Chapter 99: The Prologue Begins
Natasha slowly opened her eyes, tears glistening on her cheeks.
A beautiful dream—just a dream after all.
The past was gone, never to return.
"Thank you, Mr. Su... thank you for letting me dream again," she murmured.
Wiping away her tears, Natasha didn’t care that she had just cried in front of a group of strangers. The warmth she felt in the illusion was worth it. Even if she knew it wasn’t real, the memories relived were priceless.
"Alright, 10 million. And don’t forget Nick Fury’s cut," Su Xiuyu interjected, completely ruining the emotional atmosphere.
Natasha blinked at him, speechless.
"I’ll transfer it later... Why are you in such a damn hurry?"
It was the first time Nick Fury, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., had ever been asked for money so bluntly.
"You got all that intel. Shouldn’t you be thrilled? Don’t act like you’re being robbed," Su Xiuyu added, clearly amused.
Fury didn’t even flinch. As a seasoned director and a pure black man, his poker face was practically impenetrable. Without another word, he left with his agents, burdened with the weight of new intel and a bigger headache than before. The Statue of Liberty incident had finally reached its conclusion.
