Chapter 85: Car Chase in New York
Coulson felt a twinge of embarrassment after Uzumaki Asaoka blunt comment, so he quickly flagged down a car on the side of the road. Without hesitation, he pulled the driver out.
"The FBI is investigating a case. Your vehicle has been requisitioned. You'll be compensated later," he said briskly.
Asao raised an eyebrow as he slid into the passenger seat. "You're not FBI."
"It's fine. We often operate under their name," Coulson replied casually, starting the ignition. "Which way are we heading?"
"East," Asaoka said. "Also, we've got company—several cars tailing us. I'd bet they're here to take us out."
"You sure?"
"My sensing ability doesn't lie."
That confirmed it for Coulson. Whatever abilities Asaoka had, they were clearly supernatural. There was no way he could predict danger with that kind of accuracy otherwise.
"Hold on!"
Coulson stepped on the gas, launching them into a high-speed chase. Meanwhile, Rumlow leaned out the window, opening fire on the cars behind them. His aim was solid, but when one of the bullets hit the pursuer, the man transformed mid-motion—his body expanding, muscles tearing through clothing, bullets popping out of his skin as he morphed into a snarling werewolf.
"Shit! Is that a damn werewolf?" Rumlow cursed. As a Hydra operative, he was used to crazy things, but this was on a whole new level. "I spent half my life fighting humans, and now I've got to deal with freaks like this?"
