The dinner was simple—more of a welcome meal for Su Xiuyu and his group. Despite that, something still felt off to Su Xiuyu. The Ancient One was unusually warm. Technically, he and his party were "foreign guests," and they should've been under her watchful eye. Yet, here she was, smiling politely. That uncharacteristic friendliness left him feeling a little uneasy.
"Thank you for the hospitality, Master Ancient One. As the Sorcerer Supreme, could you stop keeping me in suspense? What's this really about?"
The Ancient One chuckled. "I'm just curious about your attitude. Tell me, Mr. Su—aren't you interested in learning the magic of Kamar-Taj?"
Su Xiuyu was caught off guard. After all the subtle tests and tension, was she finally offering to teach him magic?
"Master Ancient One, let's be clear—I'm not gunning for the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Even so, you're willing to let me learn Kamar-Taj's magic?"
"It's fine. I believe in fate. Whether or not you want that position is irrelevant. What matters is that you're willing to help protect this planet."
As usual, she spoke casually. Even when she eventually passed the title to Strange, she'd carried the same calm energy. Death itself never seemed to faze her.
"So you'd like to learn more?" she asked.
"To be honest, yes. Kamar-Taj's magic really intrigues me. Other Disci—"
"It's alright, Mr. Su. My disciples are capable enough. We can study together. But I ask one thing in return—if ever this world is in danger, lend it your strength. I'll protect it with my life, but I hope you'll be willing to help."
