Chapter 29: A Village of Dead Bones
Mito finally met Rei, as she had wanted. She was indeed a beautiful and gentle woman. However, Rei regarded herself as nothing more than a maid, her life indebted to Su Xiuyu. If he wished to take it back, she would not complain.
Mito wasn't the jealous type, but she wasn't above drawing Su Xiuyu's attention when necessary. This was her way of reminding him—subtly—that he shouldn't be too casual around other women. Fortunately, Rei was perceptive and knew how to handle the situation without making things awkward.
With the matter settled, Rei remained in charge of daily affairs, but now Mito had joined her. Surprisingly, Mito even helped with housework.
Rei was deeply grateful and had even planned to start calling Mito "Mistress." However, Mito found the title too much and insisted Rei call her by name. After much back and forth, Rei finally settled on calling her "Mito-sama."
Just as things had calmed down, Rei entered the room.
"Master Xiuyu, Master Izuna has come to inform you—the Uchiha clan meeting has been convened."
"I understand," Su Xiuyu nodded. "Rei, I'll head there right away." Then he glanced at Mito. "Are you coming with me?"
"I'll pass. It's a Uchiha clan matter, so it wouldn't be appropriate for me to attend. I'll stay here and chat with Rei," Mito replied with a shake of her head.
"Alright."
Soon, the meeting hall filled as all the Uchiha clansmen arrived. The three most prominent seats at the front were taken by Madara, Su Xiuyu, and Izuna—the undisputed strongest of the clan. No one challenged their position.
Madara stood, his sharp gaze sweeping over the gathered Uchiha.
