After gaining the tentative support of both the Demon King and Beast Sovereign, Chen Yu had only one goal left for now: to investigate the Sky Citadel rumored to be the ancient remnant of a time before the system existed.
The wind screamed past as their wyvern mount, scales glimmering under the sunlight, carried them toward the peak of the highest island—a floating landmass shrouded in clouds and storms. It was a place many called suicide to approach.
But Chen Yu wasn’t like most.
He had felt a pulse.
A vibration through the system.
Something... calling him.
As they neared the Sky Citadel, Hui’er narrowed her crimson eyes. "There’s something ancient here. My blood feels it. A presence older than the Demon King."
Chen Yu nodded. "I felt it ever since I left the beast lands. It’s like something in the system is resisting me. And whatever’s up there—it’s important."
The wyvern let out a guttural growl and suddenly stalled midair, refusing to go closer. It roared, thrashed, then turned back without waiting for an order.
"It’s too afraid to continue," Hui’er said grimly.
"Then we climb the rest on our own."
