Chapter 81: I don’t want to die…
Blood was everywhere.
The walls, the floor, the curtains, they were painted in it. The air reeked of iron and death. And Han Xiu, or whatever remained of him, was still not satisfied.
An Ran stumbled over Sun Tao’s lifeless body, her knees buckling as she fell hard. Her hands slipped on the blood-soaked floor, and she screamed as she saw Sun Tao’s eyes still wide open, locked in terror even in death.
What had happened? Were they not fine just moments ago... then why? Why did Han Xiu become a zombie and kill his own sworn brother? An Ran’s eyes flooded with tears as she begged from the heavens.
What did they do to deserve this? Why did he steal the only man she had loved for her entire youth? And why did he have to die such a horrible death, and by his own brother...? An Ran said with a choked sob, why has the heaven been so unfair?
Was not her Sun Tao a good man? He had never done anything wrong. He was the kindest and gentlest man she had ever seen. Does he deserve this death? Why do good people not live long?
An Ran’s eyes fell on Han Xiu’s cloudy eyes, and it seemed they were constantly flickering, but soon it was overpowered, and his eyes completely lost their luster and were clouded with madness and hunger.
Zhang Wei had managed to pull the heavy wardrobe aside. Now he regretted why they had blocked the door in such a way. Now he could only regret and remove all the blockages with sheer frustration and hopelessness. There was no time to think. If they did not get out of this room, then no one would survive at all. It was better to run while Han Xiu was still in a daze.
So he clawed at the furniture with desperation. He did not want to die so young, and the outcome of Sun Tao was enough to make his resolution harder. He tried to squeeze through the narrow space, but his legs betrayed him. He slipped hard on the floor, and a chair fell loudly to the floor because of his carelessness.
