Chapter 62: Finally Awake
Liora bit her lip, doubt creeping into her heart. Had she done something wrong? Was it her fault?
She clenched her hands. She was filled with frustration.
She wasn’t an expert in energy absorption. She had only known about it in fragments. Was the crystal too high-grade for him? Should she have taken precautions beforehand?
Her fingers trembled as she pressed against his wrist again, this time asking the system.
"System, what’s happening to Chen Wei?"
A soft chime echoed in her mind before the system’s voice responded.
"The host need not worry. Chen Wei’s body is currently undergoing an adjustment period. Because he has never properly practiced absorbing crystals before, his body is rejecting the foreign energy, and the energy itself is resisting being assimilated. This struggle will last for a few days before they naturally merge."
Liora’s hands curled into fists. "So he’s not in danger?"
"No," the system reassured her. "The energy inside him entered willingly. It will not harm him. However, under normal circumstances, absorbing a high-grade crystal without prior training could lead to severe backlash, even crippling a person permanently."
"Chen Wei’s luck and natural potential allowed him to endure it. Otherwise, he might have suffered a fate worse than death."
Liora sucked in a breath. She hadn’t realized just how dangerous this process was.
