(BL) The Villain wants a Divorce!

Chapter 664: Taking care of a loved one

Edgar took quite a bit of petting and time till he calmed down. Cass, ominously, felt a shiver run down his spine as he held onto the other man as he met Gideon’s gaze. The man was looking at Edgar like he wanted to say something, and Cass, suspicious of the man who had pushed himself until Sir Forsythe had more time on his hands, felt like his time in this position wasn’t over.

However, he was not about to take Edgar’s moment away from him. He would never do that. Edgar himself felt like he didn’t deserve time to himself where he was the center of it, and damn it, Cass was not about to take this moment away from him now.

He would dedicate time to Gideon later. Cass was sure that after some time Edgar would be delighted if the spotlight changed from him to Gideon. That was a surefire way to get out of the shitty way one sometimes felt after crying.

Cass wouldn’t know, not really, but he felt that was the case.

He just...felt that with so many people around, and with all of them being rather disfunctional, turning the attention towards someone else might help. He felt that he would like that if he was in Edgar’s shoes.

Gideon, for his part, hadn’t recovered from Edgar’s words. He looked positively decimated by Edgar’s words, but he didn’t let Edgar know. It helped that Edgar was facing towards Cass so Gideon could continue to look horrible. Cass worried that the man might never recover, which would be another problem all into itself. Cass needed him to be able to help Edgar.

He just hoped that Gideon would be able to pull himself together before Edgar saw the look on his face.

Sir Forsythe, for his part, remained calm and quiet while all of this happened. He remained by the door, only leaving once or twice to speak to others. Cass was impressed by his professionalism, but he really shouldn’t be. The man, as he had said, had served a former Duke. This kind of professionalism was nothing. He was also able to slip in and out of the room without them noticing, which took quite a bit of skill. If Cass didn’t know that the man was a human, he would have thought he had other blood in him.

Wait, why was Cass so sure that Sir Forsythe was just a human? Yes, the Blackburn’s were probably racist, so there was a chance that they didn’t like to hire outside of the human race, but...Cass did exist. Yes his family considered him a stain on the family name, but they weren’t exactly wrong, either.

Anyway, it didn’t really matter to Cass if he was fully human or not. Hell, he already had one demon henchman, what was a few more at this point?

Somehow they managed to get Edgar calmed down enough that they were able to finish breakfast, which led into why Sir Forsythe had remained around. Like he had promised, he had come up with a list of people that he thought would be a good match for a temporary personal maid.

For some reason, Sir Forsythe seemed insistent on only hiring women, which Cass didn’t understand and probably never would, but the list he brought was thorough and complete. Cass was once more impressed with the man.

Cass even gave the list to Edgar, the red-rimmed beauty, so that he could look over the list and feel included. Cass and Gideon were babying the man, tucking him between the two of them as he held onto a metal goblet full of bloodwine.

It was a bit disheartening that he was drinking the stuff, but Cass was sure he had his reasons. He wasn’t sure if drinking blood straight from the source was the same as drinking uh, semen straight from the source was for Cass. He should ask, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to swap drinking stories with Edgar at the moment. Debating the nutritional properties of semen taken in the mouth over ass wasn’t something one did over breakfast.

Edgar pointed out two candidates that he really liked, and Gideon easily agreed with whatever Edgar wanted. It was sweet at the very least, but not helpful. Cass needed input, not a yes man, though given the state that Gideon had been in after hearing Edgar’s thoughts and feelings, he might not be willing to be anything but a yes man right now.

However, Cass agreed with Edgar’s shortlist, outside of Gideon just going along with whatever he said. He asked Sir Forsythe to bring these two maids in and they would have them do an interview and have them shadow Cass for the day. With all of the candidates being fairies and being inherently loyal to Cass and his people, he wasn’t as afraid of them seeing him as he was right now compared to the others.

With that being said, he did ask Sir Forsythe to make sure to brief them on Cass and how his body was changing, but for the good. Cass was also happy to wear sunglasses if it bothered them as well. Given how well Sir Forsythe was holding up since Cass wasn’t wearing his sunglasses right now, he had a feeling he wasn’t as potent as he could be. He wasn’t sure why, but maybe it was because he was slowly getting used to being uh, filled up?

Thinking about that made his face warm, so he didn’t.

He instead focused on making sure that he cleaned up Edgar well, got him dressed for once with the help of Gideon, and kept a vice grip on the other man so that he couldn’t escape to where he couldn’t find him.

Gideon seemed confused by Cass’ behaviour, but it was for a good reason. Sir Forsythe was his only henchman around right now and he was well-rested thanks to Gideon. Gideon, however, was not. Edgar needed support, and Gideon was also loyal to a fault when it came to people who he considered his. Was Cass taking advantage of Gideon’s good nature? Yeah, and he wasn’t feeling bad about it either.

They were helping each other out, all of them, and Cass needed them to help him vet the new maids. He’d probably need to hire both of them to replace what Sam was capable of doing, but they still needed to go through the standard procedure. Plus, if they didn’t like what Cass, Edgar and Gideon got up to, how would they be able to manage Lucian? He was the most aggressive out of the four of them.

It was a miracle that Sam was able to stand up to him, even if his knees were knocking. He did worry how the others were going to handle being around Lucian, let alone the others.

~

Cass realised that he should have considered that aspect more. He had been a little foolish. Sam was not the norm when it came to henchmen. He was a special breed of demon? Man? Person? Sam had been able to put up with Cassian at his worst and come out of it with not only a neutral expression, but a smile.

Cass was expecting a lot from two fresh-faced maids who probably had never worked as a maid, let alone a personal maid, before. There was also the added fact that the fairies that were coming in didn’t know Cass. They knew of him, but they weren’t like Ailia and his Aunt. They weren’t older fairies who had a backbone and could wear war jewelry and smile in the face of their enemies. They were, probably, kids.

That meant that while Cass had thought he had been generous with his offer to wear sunglasses, they were a necessity. The poor things were shaking in their boots, trying to even speak, and Cass was over here thinking that just because on paper they were good fits that they were going to be great from the get go.

He had been foolish, short-sighted.

Cass sighed. He had moved to behind his desk to get some light work done while he was waiting for Sir Forsythe to bring in the two that they had selected. He had left Gideon and Edgar alone on the couch in the office, knowing that Edgar would make sure that Gideon wouldn’t leave.

Edgar wasn’t doing it intentionally, not as far as Cass knew. He was just still very sensitive, his eyes watering at pretty much everything and anything if it was said in the wrong tone. He was doing great at pulling at both Cass and Gideon’s heartstrings, which made him great for keeping Gideon here.

Cass pulled on his sunglasses, waiting for Sir Forsythe to come in, and when he did? The duo he brought in were not quite what he expected from the names and brief description that Sir Forsythe had written down, nor their credentials. However, Cass shouldn’t judge. Even Ailia looked...young.

The two girls brought in were about as colourful as one could be outside of the black and white uniforms that the staff who worked here wore. Like most fairies, they didn’t follow human sensibilities when it came to their colouring. Cass was surprised to see that there was another fully pink fairy around. She had darker pink eyes, a lighter pink skin tone in variations of the shade and her hair was pulled back, but looked to be the shade of cotton candy. She was a pink dream, and looked like she was going to faint. Her ears were long and pointed and she held her hands in front of her body. They shook as she glanced up at Cass only to stare at the ground.

Her companion was in a similar shade as Ailia. Darker skin, pretty much black, but that was where she changed. Her eyes were a deep, burning red but not in the same shade as Cass. Honestly, it was similar to how magma looked. Her hair was a dark shade as well, with flecks of red scattered throughout. She kind of looked like molten rock, if Cass was honest with himself.

Molten rock in a maid outfit.

They were a strange duo, but it was clear that they at least knew each other in some capacity because they were drawing comfort from each other. It was clear that the girl who looked like molten rock was more courageous compared to the pink cotton candy girl, and Cass immediately worried that they wouldn’t be up to the task.

Being cautious of your employer was one thing, but being afraid? That wouldn’t really work. Not for Cass and his people.

"I’m sure you’ve heard the news that Sam is temporarily away at the moment and I am in need of some assistance." Cass started and watched as both women flinched. Cass found himself frowning at their reactions, but continued. "Sir Forsythe put your names forward as being potential replacements. What are your feelings on that?" Cass asked. He had planned to offer it like a good thing, but seeing them tremble and shake...maybe they didn’t want to?

Both girls, who had been looking not at Cass but at the ground or desk, jerked their eyes up towards Cass’, caught his sunglasses, and then jerked their gazes downwards again.

"I-It would be an honour." The magma girl said, and Cass didn’t feel like he could believe her.

"You can be honest. I don’t want to force you to serve me if you don’t want to. It’s clear you’re terrified to be here and I wouldn’t punish you for being afraid." Cass told them. "Sir Forsythe putting your names on the list just means that you two are qualified, not that I am going to force you into this. It’s only a temporary placement, probably lasting 3 to 4 months at the longest, but if you can’t even stand to be in my presence, let alone the presence of the others, I will not force you. You won’t be punished if you tell me no." Both girls jerked their heads up again and looked horrified.

"What? No! It’s a great honour!" The pink girl practically yelled. "W-We were just told not to look into your eyes!" She exclaimed and Cass wasn’t certain if that explained all of their behaviours, but...

Sighing, Cass reached a hand up and rubbed his forehead and side of his face. It was going to be a long day, wasn’t it?
