Chapter 106: Just a dragon who spits fire
"Draken, you’re terrible at this." Cass deadpanned and watched as the bigger man, known for being good with any weapon, any magic, trembled as he tried to raise a teacup to Cass’ lips. He was moving so slowly, so carefully that he’d barely raised it up from the coffee table where Sam had placed it originally.
"I told you I need practise!" Draken protested, his orange eyes focused on the liquid in the cup, while Cass had a feeling he was going to die of old age before he even got a taste. The Doctor would show up before then, and what would Cass do then?
He might be able to grab the cup for himself. Or the cup could dry up before then.
"Forget worrying about spilling, am I even going to be able to get a sip before it goes cold?" Cass asked, and watched as the man’s face turned red. His orange gaze slid to Cass’ red gaze, and his eyes narrowed.
"Cassian, stop your teasing. I’ve never had to help someone like this before." Draken complained and Cass snorted. Draken’s gaze dropped back to the liquid, watching it carefully as he moved. He would have been great as a stop motion character.
"What? You’ve never had to nurse a lover back to health before?" Cass shot back, and Draken’s brows furrowed. He took a moment to think about it, and that moment had Cass’ heart racing in his chest. He didn’t know why he was feeling this way, but it felt like he was nervous to hear Draken’s response. It was so sudden, and surprising that he almost missed Draken shaking his head in response.
"No." He replied. "I...previously didn’t get involved with anyone weaker than me." It was a splash of cold water on Cass. The weird nervousness in his chest tightened until it was painful and he was about to reply tartly when Draken exhaled and spoke quickly.
"Of course, while you are physically weaker, you are not weaker magically. I’ve previously stated how impressed I was by your powers, and your ability to wield them. I am sure in time that they are only going to get more impressive, and your physical abilities are not something you have full control over. Now that I know I can hunt for you, thanks to your aide, I can help with that. It’s humans like you that have really advanced what magic can be. I’m just a dragon who knows how to spit flames." He joked, his gaze going from the tea, back to Cass’ gaze.
Cass felt his mouth open slightly, surprised.
