(BL) The Villain wants a Divorce!

Chapter 60: No knight, but you’ll do

"N-Nice doggy?" Cass tried, hoping that the wolf would somehow be calmed by his powers as an interloper. The giant fucking wolf snarled at him, saliva dripping from it’s teeth. That was exactly as he feared. He could feel the panic taking over his body. This was not going to go well for him.

Now that the kid was out of the way, half of the barrels were destroyed, and Cass hadn’t started running already, he was cooked. The carriage was too far away right now, and Cass didn’t think he could move his feet. His feet felt like he had leaded boots strapped around his ankles, locking him into place. Shit.

He needed to try something, anything, again. Maybe try to do the same attack again?

Fumbling, he tried to summon more water, but his mind was blanking. Every time he tried to chant the spell, his fingers would tremble so much that he couldn’t draw a straight fucking line. His lips felt too big, and he couldn’t get the words out.

What was he supposed to do? What was he going to do? The knights were too far away, and he still didn’t fucking know magic! The frost he’d been able to conjure felt like a fluke, a small blessing for the kid he’d been able to protect, but now he couldn’t do it again. He was a one trick pony.

He had put himself in danger, and now he was going to pay the price.

He watched as the body of the wolf tensed and Cass felt his whole body tremble. Come on Cass, move! Do something, anything! Run! This body doesn’t belong to you!

Spurred on by his own thoughts, especially about Lord Blackburn, he turned and began to race towards the carriage. It was a small hope, and the only one he had. He didn’t dare go for the orphanage, even if it was closer. Magic was real here, and despite that, doors had locks. If they were smart, they would have locked the doors after the kid got in.

Cass could hear the snapping, growling, pissed wolf leaping into action behind him. He swore he could feel the force of the creature snapping its jaws close to him. Fear and adrenaline kept his feet moving and he just prayed to everything unholy that he didn’t trip.
