Chapter 133: On the Way Back
Chapter 133: On the Way Back
The lights inside the dukedom mansion came on. From the noble mansions continuing the wall where we were standing, there were also people watching the mansion. Since they were looking our way, I gave them a small bow. I wonder if they felt our feelings? We looked completely suspicious to them, but they were broad-minded people. Now, the robbers lying inside the dukedom mansion kept receiving finishing blows one after another, and the tension that had been stretched tight inside the mansion seemed to relax.
"Lord Robby, let’s stay here a while longer."
Lily tugged at the hem of my clothes. I started to move because I thought it would be better for me to disappear right away, but Lily stopped me. She had somehow put away her crossbow. I was nervous because I thought something might be said.
As I waited on the wall, the lights finally turned toward us. Like searchlights, one, two, three of them gathered. Wow, they were teaching me not to use high beams when there’s an oncoming car! On TV, when a fugitive is cornered, the lights are gathered like this.
"I don’t know who you are, but thank you for your help. We were saved thanks to you."
A surprisingly low-voiced voice spoke from the light. I thought they would say, "What are you doing, extra!"
"We thought you were troublesome enemies and decided to lend a hand. Travelers, please forgive our rudeness. You are probably just a carefree noble prince and his maid. That’s all we thought."
When Lily answered, the other side started talking loudly, "Who is this noble prince?" But I thought it was odd for them to say "noble prince" themselves. Still, eventually their conclusion came.
"Understood. We will not blame you. However, please do not speak about what you saw tonight. We have to clean up, so we will have to ask you to leave. You too, please leave."
Then the lights turned toward the inside of the mansion and the bodies started to be cleaned up.
Lily stepped down to the road, so I followed. The gate of the dukedom mansion opened and the robbers who had fallen from the wall were being collected.
"Let’s go back, Lord Robby."
"Yeah."
In about thirty minutes, we had witnessed everything: the place where the robbers prepared, the moment they were wiped out.
"Lord Robby, please be careful."
Even though they said "be careful," I didn’t know what to be careful about with so many things happening.
"What should I be careful about?"
