The Dragon Queen and her mates.

Chapter 293: Too intimidating

Bree turned to look at the man who was holding her by her wrist and frowned. "What are you doing, fourth consort?"

The man smiled at her. He raised his hand and tucked the locks of her hair that had fallen awry due to the sudden jerky movement as she was pulled back by him. Cian peered down at her. "What do you think, your majesty?"

Her frown didn’t loosen as she tried to pull away from Cian. She didn’t care if this man was going crazy, or maybe he was acting all along, and it was his true personality showing. Anyway, she knew that this man was downright insane. It was a side effect of acting as an assassin for fun. But if he dared to mess with her when she was already pissed off, then, oh boy, he was in for a rude awakening.

"Let me go," Bree gritted out. But to her surprise, the man simply smiled at her as if he didn’t hear a thing that she was saying to him. Closing her eyes, she breathed out and then ground out, "Don’t make me repeat myself. Let go of me right now."

"Why? What will happen if you repeat yourself, your majesty? I am kind of curious because, you know... with your current condition and the rumours that are spreading all over the Dragonire, I don’t think you can even reject me. Everyone will think that you have gone crazy and are making nonsensical decisions that do not count."

"You–" Bree cut herself off because his lips scraped against hers.

His breath bathes her lips.

"Hmm? What about me, your highness?" Cian asked with an edge of lunacy. Bree had heard the same eagerness in the voice of that ghost of the little boy haunting a mansion or something. It made her spine tingle with emotions that she couldn’t explain.

Bree shoved him away, and he stumbled back, letting go of her wrist, but before she could turn around and walk away, like an elastic band, he bounced right back into her personal space. Invading it and crowding her. Bree knew that Cian was intimidating, but knowing that her dragon was slowly shifting to turning feral with the drugs in her system finally taking their toll on her body, Bree realised that she couldn’t even fight back against him because if she did, the man would get seriously injured or worse, she might even kill him. Bree didn’t want that to happen.

She couldn’t use her powers against Cian, which made her as vulnerable as a human and him twice as intimidating as he was before.

"Stop right there!" Bree commanded as she raised her hands and tried to stop Cian, but the jerk ended up bumping right into her hands. His muscles flexed beneath her fingers, as Cian never wore clothes other than a thin white fabric tied around his legs.

"You are being unfair, your majesty. You didn’t even tell me what you thought of me, and now you are stopping me. Go on, I am listening. Tell me what I am and what you think of me. Don’t leave me hanging like this, your majesty." Cian grinned at her. The motion made him look even more savage, and that terrified the shit out of Bree. because if Cian tried to harm her or, worse, kill her here. How was she supposed to fight it off with him?

Could she even defeat this monster without Serafina? Bree didn’t believe so.

"Just..just stop." Bree had to use all her strength in her hands as the man kept pushing against her like a stubborn bull. It was getting harder and harder to keep him away from her, which troubled her. What was he even trying to do? Is he trying to take advantage of the fact that I cannot fight back? Bree thought worriedly. Losing Serafina was like losing her entire anchor, and Bree couldn’t make head or tail of the situation at the moment. She was terrified and lost, and Cian was not helping her.

The sound of his tut echoed in the air as the man finally stopped trying to glue his body to hers.

However, Bree still kept her hands up in the air just in case the man tried something else, not trusting him to discontinue his frantic movements at all. Her fingers twitched slightly, and she couldn’t notice how taut the muscles of this man were. She looked at him and, for the first time, realised that Cian was tall and sturdy like a wall. He might be effeminate, but he was, after all, a man.

His pectoral muscles twitched beneath her fingers, and Bree dropped her arms to her sides. Chasing away the haze that had slowly climbed up her spine and mind, Bree shoved down the strange taste of adrenaline. When she parted her lips, her voice was once again calm and collected. She was back in control and no longer terrified. Of a man. "What do you want?"

She wanted to know what this man was thinking and why he was so adamant about stopping her.

"You really have no idea, your majesty?" Cian shook his head before rubbing his chest and walking past her.

When Bree saw him walk away, she was speechless; she turned to look at the man who was striding off to god knows where, and she chased after him. "At least tell me why you stopped me? What were you even trying to do?"

He whipped his head in her direction, and Bree had to use all her courage not cringe at the sight of the maniacal glint in his eyes with which he was looking at her at that very moment. It was something that Bree could never get used to, even if she were to see it again and again.

"Won’t you know if you continue following me?" He asked with a glint that Bree swore was muted just a few minutes ago.
