After Rebirth, I Married the Great Demon King

Chapter 269: Do You Believe I Will Kiss You?

Yun Shifei thought the big boss was just a bit too terrifying! He’s actually saying these things to a child.

Her worldview had taken quite a hit.

Cheng Lie noticed her shocked expression and couldn’t help but ask, "Was that something I shouldn’t have said?"

He was merely trying to test how much of him she could truly accept.

Yun Shifei snapped back to reality: "...Not exactly wrong, but maybe we should phrase these things more tactfully in the future."

How to put it—although it’s the truth, saying something so blunt to a child felt a tad too cruel.

After all, kids spend their time immersed in fairy tales. To impose an adult’s reality on them so early seemed less than ideal.

Cheng Lie noticed Yun Shifei’s conflicted expression, her little face scrunched up in frustration; she looked utterly pitiful. He couldn’t help but find it amusing. Her reaction at this moment mirrored Fang Kaiyi’s expression earlier when he heard those same words from him.

Unable to resist, he reached out to ruffle her hair, his voice low and soft: "Sorry, I’ll try to remind you differently next time."

That simple act of ruffling her hair left Yun Shifei completely dazed.

Could he... maybe stop doing all these gestures of intimacy?

Thinking back to the interrupted conversation from earlier, though, she found that the courage she had moments ago was now completely gone. She couldn’t summon the nerve to ask anymore.

...

The weather was growing colder, turning into winter seemingly overnight.

Winter came early to Beijing, and its chill was entirely different from South City.

South City’s winters were wet and cold, and it would occasionally rain.

But Beijing was different. It was dry, biting cold. When the wind brushed against your face, it felt like a slap across the cheek.

Yun Shifei felt that no matter how much skincare she applied to her face, it still felt dry and uncomfortable.

In hindsight, she found herself missing South City’s winters a bit.

Cold-sensitive as she was, she had bought numerous thick clothes and bundled herself up tight when attending class.

After her classes were over, she didn’t even bother heading to the library. All she wanted was to return to her dorm and curl up in bed with a thick comforter.

The weather was just far too cold.

But on her way back to the dorm, she encountered an unwelcome visitor.

A familiar sports car.

Yun Shifei glanced at it and quickly pretended not to see it, heading straight for the dorm.

"Shi Fei, how coldhearted—acting like you can’t even see me?" A man’s playful voice rang out.

Yun Shifei turned to look at him. It had been some time since she last saw him. The man looked like he was in better spirits, still maintaining that roguish demeanor, his peach blossom eyes constantly teasing her.

This time was different from the last encounter. Her dorm mates had all gone out shopping, and she, unwilling to brave the cold, stayed behind.

Now, alone and faced with this man, she couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy.

Still, in broad daylight, he probably wouldn’t dare to do anything too outrageous.

Qin Yumo looked at Yun Shifei standing not far away. She was wrapped up in a bulky down coat, covered from head to toe, with a hat on her head and a scarf obscuring half her face, leaving only her pitch-black eyes visible.

He had seen other girls, even on such chilly days, wearing stylish skirts and leather boots. But she? She had bundled up like a dumpling.

On top of that, her entire posture was tense, and the visible parts of her gaze were filled with vigilance, as if he were some kind of villain.

She really resembled a little hedgehog!

Qin Yumo couldn’t help but chuckle: "Relax. I won’t do anything to you. I just have something I want to ask you. Come here."

He beckoned her over.

"Your hand—has it healed?"

She remembered the time Cheng Lie had twisted Qin Yumo’s hand. She distinctly heard the cracking sound of bones, and afterward, Qin Yumo’s face had immediately turned pale.

Yun Shifei had known then that his hand had surely been dislocated.

During the time he stayed away, she had assumed Cheng Lie’s actions had scared him off. She hadn’t expected him to show up again.

Upon hearing Yun Shifei mention his injury, Qin Yumo scoffed: "I’ve got a strong life force. Such minor injuries are nothing."

As Yun Shifei continued keeping her distance from him, he grew impatient and stepped closer on his own.

Seeing him approach, Yun Shifei panicked and started to run.

But wrapped up as she was, even on an ordinary day she couldn’t outrun Qin Yumo, and now it only took a few steps for him to catch up to her.

The man grabbed her arm, making it impossible for her to struggle free.

"Do you really fear me that much, hmm?"

Even though she couldn’t see his expression, she could tell he was smiling.

"I don’t like you. Let me go, or I’ll shout for help."

"Your dorm mates aren’t here. Who exactly are you planning to call for help?"

At this time, the road they were on was rather empty.

The sensation of having her so thoroughly within his grasp gave Qin Yumo an intense sense of satisfaction.

She was like a small animal. How could she possibly escape the palm of his hand?

Still, he genuinely did have something to ask her.

"That guy from last time—what’s your relationship with him?"

Yun Shifei immediately knew he was talking about Cheng Lie.

What was her relationship with Cheng Lie?

Yun Shifei replied, "What does it matter to you?"

"If you don’t tell me, I swear I’ll kiss you." Qin Yumo wasn’t exactly known for his patience. Just now, he felt like he had completely exhausted it.

This guy was nothing but a scoundrel.

Yun Shifei was startled enough by Qin Yumo’s threat that she regained her composure.

So she said, "He’s my boyfriend."

Qin Yumo froze in place. "Really?"

Yun Shifei nodded firmly.

Initially, Qin Yumo didn’t buy it. Despite searching for Yun Shifei for so long, she had never once admitted that Cheng Lie was her boyfriend, leading him to believe his fourth uncle had lied to him.

So the moment his father lifted his house arrest, he came straight to find Yun Shifei.

Yet she had actually confirmed it—Cheng Lie really was her boyfriend.

"How long have you been together?"

"Quite a while now."

The smile that normally graced Qin Yumo’s face had completely vanished. He couldn’t articulate how he felt deep inside at that moment.

Strangely enough, though he had dated many girlfriends before, his feelings for Yun Shifei were entirely different. But really, how long had they known each other? Besides, she clearly didn’t even like him.

And yet, his emotions toward her felt exceptionally unique.

The less she liked him, the deeper his desire grew to see her yield to him.

But she actually had a boyfriend?

"Then go break up with him." Qin Yumo growled through gritted teeth.

Yun Shifei knew she had provoked Qin Yumo’s anger. Clearly, he couldn’t stand the thought of her being with Cheng Lie.

So she deliberately leaned into it, insisting on claiming that she and Cheng Lie were a couple.

"I knew him since high school. Back then, we’d walk to and from school together every day. I always thought that once I got into college, I would officially start dating him. So there’s absolutely no way you can separate us."

The first half of her statement was purely hypothetical.

But life isn’t an ideal. Up till now, she hadn’t been able to fulfill that last sentence.

Qin Yumo burned with fury. Her youthful years, those precious moments of beauty—those had all been spent with that boy.
