Anton knew that once he left, Orlene, the ship's beautiful librarian, would inspect her beloved books to make sure his Frozen Orb air conditioner hadn't damaged any of them.
He knew that his magic item affected the humidity inside the enclosed space, but he didn't think it was enough to harm the books.
He just hoped none of them had been affected. He still wanted to return to the ship's library once or twice a week.
When he checked the time, Anton saw that it was already around six in the evening. He decided to head to one of his favorite restaurants in the Noble Section of the ship.
As he walked, he reflected on how the ship had given each district an official name, yet the passengers had unofficially dubbed the area where the wealthy lived—and where the high-end shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues were located—the Noble Section.
The name sounded rather elitist to him. He knew for a fact that some of the younger heirs of wealthy families deliberately used it to remind everyone that they were the ones who ruled that part of the ship.
Naturally, none of them bothered Anton or his friends. They were wise enough not to provoke a young Supreme Wizard as powerful as Anton.
Although everyone knew that Anton planned to study under the Izmortan wizards, his home was still in Ormunda. Influential people also knew that his younger sister was quickly becoming someone of great importance.
The fact that Anna had reached the Archmage rank at such a young age demonstrated the family's extraordinary potential.
Anton’s father was also well known as a powerful warrior who led some of the strongest mercenary teams that explored high-level dungeons in Ormunda.
His father's recent marriage also meant that the family line would likely continue to grow, further strengthening their influence.
It was also common knowledge that the movies everyone had been enjoying originated from Anton's family, making them unimaginably wealthy.
Almost every passenger on the ship had watched those movies, and many people also knew that Anton's friends could watch them without paying the expensive cinema admission fees.
Paul had once told Anton that many young nobles envied the fact that ordinary young men and women from the lower section had become Anton's friends, as that friendship alone brought them countless privileges.
As Anton approached one of his favorite restaurants, he heard someone call his name.
Looking over, he saw Eric waving at him while Paul walked behind him.
"We've been looking all over for you!" Eric said. "One of the crew members patrolling the area where your rooms are told us you'd already left."
"I was in the library learning a few things," Anton replied simply.
Paul and Eric accompanied Anton to one of the finest restaurants in the Noble Section. Without hesitation, they ordered several dishes from the menu the waiter presented.
As the three of them shamelessly devoured the food placed before them, a thought suddenly crossed Anton's mind.
Their table was tucked away in a secluded corner, hidden from the other customers. The host already knew their dining habits and wisely seated them where the restaurant's wealthy patrons wouldn't notice them.
The staff of the restaurants and entertainment venues in the Noble Section was grateful that, although Anton and his friends could be somewhat unruly, they were never disruptive.
In fact, they appreciated that someone as young and powerful as Anton—someone who could easily have abused his status—was easygoing and willing to follow the rules.
The truth was that, although Anton and his friends lacked refined table manners, they behaved far better than many of the young nobles who frequented the area.
The thought occupying Anton's mind concerned the Izmortans' rebirth process.
Although he kept telling himself that his Diablo System would remain unaffected, a small seed of doubt lingered in the back of his mind.
His Diablo System was the core of his identity. It was the source of his tremendous power and the reason he and his family had survived the Undead Coalition crisis.
He needed to make absolutely certain that he would never lose it.
Anton considered temporarily granting one or two of his friends access to the non-ladder Multiplayer feature of his Diablo System.
He would have Paul and Eric level non-ladder multiplayer characters. Once they arrived in Izmorta and underwent the rebirth process by joining one of its magical organizations, Anton would meet them inside the game to determine whether their access to Multiplayer had been affected.
If their access remained intact, it would strongly suggest that his own Diablo System would also survive the rebirth process.
Once the experiment was complete, Anton would revoke Paul and Eric's access to the Multiplayer feature.
He intended to be completely honest with them. In exchange for one hundred thousand gold coins each, he would explain that their access to the Multiplayer feature would only be temporary.
Naturally, they would also be required to sign a magical non-disclosure agreement regarding his system.
Fortunately, his Diablo System allowed him to remotely revoke any Diablo II class or Multiplayer access he had bestowed upon someone else.
As for the magical contract itself, Anton planned to ask Supreme Baturin whether he—or one of the ship's other wizards—could prepare one, since Anton had no idea how to create such a contract himself.
"Paul, Eric, after dinner, could you come to my room? I need to ask both of you for a favor," Anton said.
His two friends simply nodded.
Later, once they were seated in Anton's living room, Paul looked at him curiously while Eric stared at him blankly, waiting for an explanation.
Anton remained silent for several moments, carefully considering his decision.
Eventually, Paul lost his patience.
"So, what exactly do you need from us?"
"My family possesses a magical bloodline legacy," Anton began. "It's the reason I was able to become a Supreme Wizard at such a young age. I don't believe the Izmortans' rebirth process will affect that legacy, but I still have some doubts."
He paused before continuing.
"I want to temporarily bestow a portion of that legacy upon both of you until you undergo the rebirth process. Once I've confirmed that the process doesn't interfere with my family's legacy, I'll retrieve the magic. In return, I'll pay each of you one hundred thousand gold coins."
Paul and Eric stared at him in shock.
Eric immediately agreed, his eyes widening so much that Anton and Paul could practically see him mentally spending the hundred thousand gold coins.
Paul, however, had far more questions.
"What exactly is this legacy? And will it affect our chances of joining one of the Izmortans' magical organizations?"
"I don't believe it will," Anton answered. "After all, I also intend to join one of those organizations. Our family's bloodline legacy grants access to a hidden world. Once you're inside, you'll be asked to choose one of eight different classes."
Anton proceeded to explain each of the eight Diablo II classes in detail, describing their abilities, fighting styles, and equipment.
He also explained that defeating monsters inside that hidden world would allow their chosen class to gain levels, steadily increasing their strength. As they became stronger, they would be able to challenge even more powerful monsters, continuing to grow until they eventually reached the maximum level.
The power their chosen class gained within that hidden world would also manifest in the real world, making them extraordinarily powerful.
That was precisely why Anton needed them to sign both a magical contract and a magical non-disclosure agreement before participating in the experiment.
Finally, he explained that reclaiming both their class and access to the hidden world posed no difficulty for him. No matter where they were, he could strip away the gifts he had bestowed upon them.
That was also why he was willing to pay them such an enormous sum. He understood that, once they experienced the incredible power those classes offered, giving them up would be extraordinarily difficult.
