Chapter 256: Second Lifetime, Freya. (2)
Seconoria.
***********
Before Freya could make her way towards her escape, she found herself surrounded by her father’s knights, their stern faces leaving no room for argument.
Governess Luxia stood nearby, her disapproval evident in the tilt of her chin and the nose, like a main character on its own, stood at attention.
"Your highness," one of the knights began, his voice firm yet tinged with concern, "You cannot continue to disregard your responsibilities in such a reckless manner."
Freya met their stern gazes with an air of nonchalance, though a pang of guilt tugged at her conscience, she hadn’t meant to fail in her escapade. Perhaps she’d screamed somewhere during the fall and now she wondered.
"I was merely... stretching my legs, so to speak," she offered, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
"Weren’t you supposed to be using the ladies’ room?" Freya bit her cheek at being caught in her inconsistency how had the governess decided she didn’t want a break but a raise? she felt betrayed.
"Oh, governess, how uncouth to say such about a noble lady, especially a princess in the company of men." She fanned herself dramatically, attempting to deflect the scrutiny.
She also very much enjoyed taking a jab at the woman by referencing their earlier conversation. Freya noticed her dramatics only sharpened the frown on Luxia’s face, but she continued nevertheless.
"And besides, I did both." Governess Luxia’s sharp gaze bore into Freya’s, her lips thinning with disapproval.
