Chapter 204: A Talentless Hack
The stage area erupted. Oscar’s accusation, sharp and clear, hung in the air like a thunderclap, shattering the celebratory atmosphere. Whispers turned into murmurs, then into full-blown chatter.
The ushers at the event tried to led him offstage to the back, but he vehemently refused, his voice instead growing stronger.
"I will not be silenced when Judge Thompson is selling his conscience and giving unworthy people the award." He screamed louder.
All eyes turned to Judge Thompson, who stood near the judges’ table, his face a mask of shock and anger.
"What is the meaning of this?" he demanded, rising to his feet. his voice trembling slightly. He pointed a finger at Oscar. "How dare you accuse me of cheating? This is slander! I will have you know that I am a man of integrity!"
Oscar, however, was undeterred. Emboldened by the support of the other contestants, he stood his ground. "I am not accusing you of anything you did not do, Judge Thompson," he retorted, her voice firm. "I saw you. I saw you accepting a bribe."
Judge Thompson’s face flushed crimson. He opened his mouth to protest, but Oscar cut him off.
"Don’t even bother denying it," he said, his voice ringing through the room. "I have proof."
Judge Thompson’s eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape. He knew at that point that he was trapped. Oscar’s accusation was too specific, too confident. He could feel the eyes of the other judges, the contestants, the audience, all boring into him.
