Chapter 167: Dinner For Two
The penthouse felt strangely empty as Levi stepped inside. After the tumultuous events of the past couple of days, the quiet was almost deafening. He had expected to return to an empty apartment, a stark reminder of his fractured relationship with Lyse.
After their conversation in the night, Lyse had been very hard to catch. When he got up in the morning she was gone, when he got back from work she was either already asleep or still at her atelier. Her bodyguard kept him updated on her activities, so he knew what she was up to.
At that point, it was clear to Levi that there was no way that Lyse would still be hanging around when she was evidently done with him. But as he walked into the living room, he was met with a surprising sight.
The dining table was set for two, the soft glow of candlelight illuminating the polished surface and the elaborate spread. The aroma of a home-cooked meal filled the air, a comforting scent that tugged at his heartstrings. And there, standing by the table and fidgeting slightly, was Lyse.
She was dressed in a simple but elegant dress, her hair falling softly around her shoulders. She looked up as he entered, a gentle smile gracing her lips.
Levi stopped in his tracks, his heart pounding in his chest. He had not expected this. He had braced himself for coldness, for distance, but this... this was something entirely different. Dinner for two had to be a good sign.
He did not want to be too hopeful for fear that it would be dashed to the floor, but this effort she had hade had to mean something. His heart soared as he looked at her beautiful face.
"Lyse," he said, his voice barely a whisper. His throat felt very dry and he felt like a school boy talking to his crush.
"Welcome home, Levi," she said, her smile widening slightly. "I made dinner."
