I Married My Ex's Billionaire Father

Chapter 148: I Want Out Of This

The sterile scent of antiseptic hung heavy in the air, a stark contrast to the chaos and fear of a few hours ago. Levi sat beside Lyse’s hospital bed, his gaze fixed on her pale face. He had rushed her to the hospital after the terrifying incident with Brandon, his heart pounding with fear and a fierce protectiveness.

The doctors had examined her, confirming that she had suffered no serious physical injuries, Levi had been able to breathe a sigh of relief. He had feared that something bad might have happened to her. He insisted on staying by her side, refusing to leave her alone even for a minute.

A doctor entered the room, his expression grave. He had been reviewing Lyse’s case, trying to understand the extent of her memory loss and the impact of the recent trauma.

"Mr. Van Doren," the doctor began, his voice professional but empathetic, "may I speak to you outside please?"

Levi stared at Lyse, reluctant to leave her alone in the room. The doctor, sensing Levi’s feeling spoke again.

"It will be only a few minutes Mr Van Doren, she will barely know that you are not there."

"I would rather not," Levi insisted. "I don’t want her to wake up and be frightened."

The doctor nodded and started to speak. "I understand that Mrs Van Doren has been experiencing some memory issues following her accident."

Levi nodded, his gaze fixed on Lyse. "Yes," he confirmed. "She has been struggling to remember large portions of her past."

"She does not even remember me..." he said wistfully, his voice soft as he stroked her soft hair.

"Well, I have reviewed her file," the doctor continued, "and I have discovered a crucial detail. Mrs. Van Doren was scheduled for regular follow-up appointments and specific medication to aid in her memory recovery. Due to the fact that she did not return to the hospital after being released, she did not receive the necessary treatment."
