Chapter 106: The Murderer’s Daughter
Felicity was stunned. Maeve? Ken was calling that name in his delirious state? That was the name of his ex-lover, the woman who had broken his heart all those years before. Why was he calling her name now? Her eyes narrowed in irritation but she controlled herself.
"It’s me, Felicity, your baby," she said gently, trying to bring him back to reality.
But he seemed oblivious to her presence. He continued to mutter Maeve’s name, his voice growing weaker with each word.
Felicity’s anger began to soar. She was an A list actress who could be with anyone. Yet, here she was being replaced by a ghost from his past. She felt a surge of resentment, an envy that she only ever experienced when it came to this particular woman.
Just then, Dr Caleb who was on the other side of the bed, checking Ken’s vitals spoke. "He is stable for now," he said. "But he is still quite weak. He may need some time to recover."
Felicity frowned, her eyes fixed on Ken. She wanted to lash out, to scream at him, to make him understand the pain he was causing her. "Why is he calling another woman’s name when I am right here beside him?" She screeched. "Did you do something to him?"
Dr Caleb winced at the high pitch of her voice then he frowned and spoke sternly. "I am sorry ma’am, but I have to remind you that this is a hospital. You can’t just scream as you like as patients need their rest undisturbed."
"What do you expect me to do when my fiancé does not recognize me!" She said, her voice even louder.
"Ma’am, I am going to have to ask you to leave." Dr Caleb said firmly. "Or I am going to be forced to ask security to take you out."
