Chapter 35: PDA
Lyse’s heart sank. She could see it in his eyes that he would carry out his threat if she did not accept his terms. If the shelter were to be exposed, the women there would be at risk. Their anonymity, their safety, everything would be compromised.
"I cannot believe that you are despicable enough to do something like this." She spat, her back rigid with anger.
Levi’s eyes turned as hard as rock and he said, "I am a man who makes deals, I have only risen to my position because I did not let a no stop me, so believe me when I say nothing is out of bounds."
She thought about how those women depended on her and she had to step up and do what she had to do. She knew she could not risk it, she had the feeling that Levi was not bluffing. The women at the shelter were vulnerable, and they needed protection. She sighed, her shoulders slumping.
"Fine, you win." she said, her voice barely a whisper. "I will do it. But on my own terms."
Levi looked like he had expected her to say that and he smiled a beautiful smile that almost made her forget that he was a devious snake who was willing to stoop to unbelievable depths just in order to win. She did not envy the people who had to do business with him.
"Name your terms then."
Lyse thought for a moment. "First of all, I want complete transparency. I want to know exactly what you are planning, what you expect of me."
Levi nodded. "Fair enough."
