Chapter 344
"Time for a quick walk around the castle while your mommy works. Maybe your father will come back in the middle of it or we will see someone else for you to play with," Amelia said, opening the door to leave to get back to her duties with Mara by her side.
After a quick dress change for Mara to match the green dress Amelia wore and a small break to feed Mara, it was time to leave for Mara to get her daily exploration of the castle.
The guards on the outside became more tense seeing Amelia walk out of the room with the young princess. Killian’s warning to not let anything happen to the two of them or he would throw every guard into the hottest fire he could find in the underworld, echoed in their heads.
A single fly should find difficulty getting close to the princess.
Amelia tried her best to act like the guards did not exist. The castle was already filled with many guards to ensure every corner was well-protected thanks to Killian and the five guards she left in front of Mara’s room were enough, but now that number had tripled, and with every step Amelia took, there were many footsteps heard behind her.
Amelia let Killian do as he wanted so he wouldn’t be so worried about Mara’s safety when he was not present, but adding a guard each time she looked away was starting to annoy her. At this rate, she would be walking around the castle with an army behind her.
All she wanted was a nice quiet walk with Mara. She didn’t mind the servants and a few guards who would follow her, but the number of guards behind her now was too much. Mara was easily distracted by the guards and looked behind Amelia instead of looking in front at what Amelia wanted to show her.
Amelia quickened her pace as if it would help her to lose the guards, but it did not. As much as she liked being queen, she sought after a moment where she could be normal and walk around with her daughter without being disturbed. The only time they weren’t interrupted or surrounded by people was when they stayed in their room.
Amelia had to order the guards to stop knocking on the door every few minutes to ask if she and Mara were safe. They had excellent hearing to know that they were safe and there were demons flying around outside to spot any threats coming into her bedroom.
