Chapter 337
"You’re a sorry excuse for a husband and a father. I only wished that I had enjoyed killing you a bit more. That I had more time to torture you as the poison did its work."
"Had I known the north was taking over the castle, I would have stayed in your room a bit more. Seeing you before me now is a blessing. I hope that your body is filled with anger to see that I am alive and well," Amelia said.
"We can be on the same page and say that I am not your daughter. When anyone asks, I will say that I have no father. I don’t want your name attached to mine any longer now that I am a Bune. If you do not think I am your daughter, why should I claim it? I hope that you and grandmother end up near each other in the underworld. Yell at each other about the things you have both done."
"My mother did not kill Anne. She had no involvement in it," Richard said, still not believing Amelia. "My mother was on your side and tried to get me to investigate, but I told her it was a mere cold that took Anne’s life. She had no reason to kill the queen. She respected Anne since she was a good queen to the kingdom."
"Of course, she would urge you to find the culprit whilst she pretended to be on Amelia’s side. Your mother had a good hold over the castle to cover her tracks. You two were never going to find her even if you worked together. The priests had many secrets and they did well to hide my death," Anne said, looking down at her pathetic former husband.
"This is your former wife, Anne Blackwell," Amelia introduced her mother.
Richard stared at the woman beside Amelia who did not look like Anne in the slightest bit. "You are playing tricks on me-"
"You are still as slow as I remembered you to be, Richard. For a man to claim who loved me so much, you couldn’t find it in your heart to protect my daughter. The one thing I treasured most in this castle. Your mother had many secrets. Secrets about the people in the north being demons. The only thing me and that old woman could agree on was the fact my daughter should one day be queen."
Anne had little knowledge about the priests since her mothers didn’t think she would ever end up near them and even if she did, it wasn’t like she practised spells for her body to show signs of a witch. She spoke nothing of her family so they would not be looked into and for the priests to find out her secret, but they did in the end.
