The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 299

Anne tried to get to her feet to greet Amelia, but her knees were suddenly weak and she could not stand up. She could only sit down and look on as Amelia approached her. It felt like yesterday Amelia was coming to visit her in her tower, but it was actually two years.

There was so much about Amelia that had changed in two years. Anne could see that Amelia had grown taller even if it was just by a little bit. She didn’t see Amelia as a little girl, but a grown lady most likely because she was married now.

Cordelia and Ramona backed away from Anne to give the mother and daughter a moment alone for them to hug and catch up with each other. This moment was all Anne ever spoke of since they brought her back into this world. They could now stop worrying about Anne being sad that she could not see her daughter.

For Amelia, it was a bit odd to look at someone who did not resemble her mother, but carried her mother’s soul.

"Mother," Amelia said, going down to the floor to join her mother. Her feet might become numb in a moment.

"Amelia," Anne replied, reaching out to touch Amelia’s cheeks. The warmth of Amelia’s skin against her hand was just what she needed to confirm she had not been dreaming. "I have come home. I am sorry that it has taken me-"

Amelia lunged forward to hug her mother, causing Anne to fall backwards onto the floor and Amellie to join her. A simple hello would not suffice. She wanted to hug her mother and never let her go. "Welcome back mother. I have missed you dearly," she said, burying her head in her mother’s shoulder as tears formed.

There was not a day that went by that she did not think of her mother. Learning that her mother was still alive was one of the greatest gifts she had ever received from the world. A second chance for her to be with her mother. To make up for the time the priests robbed her of. Her mother was gone too soon and it was not fair.

Anne fought to hold back her tears so she could comfort Amelia, but she could not stop the salty water from escaping her eyes. To hold Amelia again was surreal. She never wanted to let go of Amelia, but she needed to have another good look to make sure Amelia was without a scratch and no one had laid a hand on her in her absence.
