Chapter 179
"Alastor, how are things going? Is my bride happy?" Killian asked.
Alastor glared at Killian who was lying up on a makeshift bed for more than an hour now. "You would know if you leave this tent and take a look around. The princess has been getting ready from the moment she arrived. She must be putting on her dress by now. You should start putting on your clothes in the next few minutes. The wedding will start shortly."
"Hmm. Very good. Can you believe that I will become a husband?" Killian asked, sitting up from where he had been sleeping.
"No," Alastor bluntly replied. "If not for wanting to stop you from destroying her kingdom, I know the princess would not be marrying you today. I did expect you would have to force some young lady to marry you. How she tolerates your playful nature is a mystery."
"It sounds like you have come to like Amelia. Each time you speak of her these days, you admire something about her without realizing it. Make sure it stops at admiring her. It would hate to rip your head off for having eyes for my woman," Killian causally spoke but he meant his threat. "You know I am not the type to share which is why I never let the devil borrow you."
"I know. I have bad luck being stuck with you for the rest of my life and you are wrong about me admiring the princess. I am only glad there is someone else to share my burden of dealing with you. I do not admire humans," Alastor replied.
"My eyes must deceive me because I have caught you smiling when you taunt the maid. Are you not having fun when you are around her? A wedding is a perfect time for the two of you to fool around with each other while everyone else is focused on Amelia and me. Why do you seem annoyed?" Killian commented on Alastor’s expression.
"I have told you time and time again to stop spying on me and if I were to ever grow an interest in humans it would be one who shares the same common sense as me. Just because you have fallen for the charms of a human does not mean everyone else around you will. Now, get ready before I find myself strangling you. Why am I even here?" Alastor muttered as he was not needed for this wedding.
Alastor did not care for weddings nor did he care to be surrounded by humans.
"You are the person I have chosen to deal with conflict at the border and whatever problems that Blackwells shall have. Amelia will be involved in ruling the north by my side so there won’t be much work for you to do. Do me a favor and find my hellhounds for me but watch your fingers. I have not seen them since I returned to the north and they must be hungry. Wouldn’t want you to become their meal," Killian said while he stripped.
Alastor turned away from Killian to give him privacy. Unlike many demons he knew, men were not his taste and though he had the misfortune of walking in on Killian with nothing on, he did not want to witness the sight again. "Please save your nakedness for the princess and I will not be feeding those wolves. I wish to keep my fingers."
