The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 176

"If I was against this marriage, we both know that I would not have shown up today," Amelia chuckled but they both knew it was not a joke. "Thankfully, I have started to like Killian so it shall work out for me and the people of this kingdom. Where is everyone else? Fraser, aunt Beth, and all the relatives? I only see a few carriages."

"Oh, those carriages are mine with the gifts I have brought for you and Killian. I hope you both enjoy them. Amelia," Margaret touched her granddaughter’s hand. "Many of your relatives sent letters to the castle claiming to be sick, traveling or some have admitted to being too scared to come to the border. I don’t know how many will show and I have not forced them to come."

"I see. Well, for something that benefits the kingdom, you should not have to go out of your way to force them to come. What about the court and Fraser?" Amelia asked. It was different if Fraser would not show up. It would be a slap in Killian’s face and at this point, she would not stop him from retaliating.

"Fraser has been looking for a chance to not come but I heard his mother has talked some sense into him. Has the spy Killian left behind not told you?" Margaret flicked Amelia’s nose to let her know nothing got past her in the castle.

Amelia was surprised to learn that Margaret knew there was a demon in the castle but then she remembered what she was told about the priest, and she realized it wouldn’t be hard for Margaret to know when a demon was around. "Nothing gets past you grandmother. I don’t mind if none of the relatives show but I hope Fraser does arrive as it would be a bad look for the future Blackwell king to not be present," she said.

"Fraser didn’t want to attend the wedding but he was reminded that the official truce will be made. I’m sure he won’t miss the chance to offer ridiculous ideas for the truce. He is more of a fool than a king. I fear he is following in your father’s footsteps. Only my true grandchild is making me proud."

’True grandchild?’ Amelia thought. It had been many years since she heard her grandmother say this. Though there were no blood ties between Fraser and Margaret, he was always referred to as a grandchild. ’What happened between them?’

"Grandmother is everything alright between you and Fraser-"

"Princess!" Gina panted, hunching over to gasp for air when she finally reached Amelia. ’How am I so out of shape?’ She wondered. Gina was ticked off when she looked to her side and saw Edith stand beside her perfectly fine.

"We need to start getting you dressed for the wedding. We must do your hair, continue to soften your skin, add color to your lips, and-"

"I get it. I get it," Amelia stopped Gina before the list could carry on. "Why can’t I just put on a wedding dress and get married?"
