Chapter 167
"Do you know if the men and women wanting to join my side have arrived at the castle?" Amelia asked Gina as they hurried off to the room she met with the dressmaker for her wedding dress.
"I am not sure. No one informed me of it. To be honest, no one informs me of anything. They are always looking at me like I am some kind of bug. If they are here someone should come to you since you have to do the picking. Or we can send one of your guards to see," Gina replied.
Amelia looked over her shoulder at the two men following behind her and Gina. "No, I don’t want to create an opening for someone to attack when there is just one guard. I-Cyrus?" She stopped walking when she spotted him hurrying down the hall.
Amelia was surprised to see that he was still in the castle as she believed he left with Jahi.
"Why are you so late? She could have been murdered in your absence," Gina spoke up before Amelia could. She knew Amelia would be nice to Cyrus but that did not mean she had to be.
"I apologize for not being on time," Cyrus apologized right away.
"You told her I wanted her gone, didn’t you? You should have waited for me to do it so she wouldn’t blow up at you. This is the first time you have ever been late so I won’t be angry but keep in mind, I don’t have many people I can trust with my life. It might come across as insensitive but as my guard, I need to come before your problems," Amelia said in a stern voice.
She normally let things slide back in the Blackwell kingdom but things were different here. There were too many people who had not taken well to her presence yet and she needed Cyrus. She knew he would risk his life for her which was something she couldn’t say about the men he picked to guard her.
"I suppose I have some part to blame in your business blowing up," Amelia added, acknowledging her part in all of it. "It won’t happen again in the future. We are going to try on my wedding dress and then I want to pick out people to protect and serve me. Today will be quite busy since the wedding is tomorrow so I hope you have eaten already."
