The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 122

There was no way in this life Fraser would ever travel to the north. He heard many stories of how the people in the north lived in homes that did not compare to the ones here in town. Then there was the cold unbearable weather. As the king, such conditions did not suit him.

"We can create a place at the border to meet but who would fund all of this? These are two good ideas so far but it will take money to implement and the people won’t like it if we take more money from them. Most of them are not on board to be at peace with the north," said Fraser. The money certainly could not come from his pockets.

Fraser had already started to make arrangements for things he wanted to be made for when he would be king. He felt the crown and throne could do with a few improvements and then he needed clothes fit for a king. The ones he wore now did not scream look at me, I am the king.

According to his mother, it wouldn’t be right for him to spend most of the royal funds on himself so he had to take this money out of his own pockets. Fraser had no intention of letting those funds be used for the north either.

Amelia knew they could not ask for the people to pay more taxes so she had a solution. "I was thinking that we could pitch in our own money and receive donations from some of the nobles on both sides. It is not like it is a new carriage we are trying to buy. It is a meeting place to discuss the important affairs between the castles."

"I am against this now since the money to build it is an issue," Fraser held up his hand. The simple solution would be to have the north come down to this castle when a meeting was needed. It would make a future attack to get rid of Killian Bune much easier. All he needed now was for everyone else to be against the decision.

"I am conflicted. They both make good points," Margaret said. It wouldn’t be an issue for her to help fund a court by the border but she already had her hands full with other arrangements to help others in the kingdom. "Your decision will break the tie, Killian Bune."

"I will pay for it to be built. Money is no issue in the north as it is over here," Killian replied.

Fraser gritted his teeth at the unwelcome insult. Of course, money would not be an issue in the north when they kept attacking others and stealing their wealth. However, he was not going to object to Killian paying for the court to be built since it meant Fraser got to keep all of his money. "That can stay in the truce but make sure to money the king of the north plans to pay for you," he said.
