Chapter 70
"Cyrus, I swear if you let this put a wedge between our friendship I will have Gina annoy you," Amelia threatened him. "I am not the least bit afraid of you nor am I upset that you didn’t tell me about it. We’re all allowed to have our little secrets. Please look at me."
Cyrus slowly turned his gaze back to Amelia. There were many humans who could handle learning the existence of demons and not panic. He figured Amela was pretending not to be scared so that he wouldn’t distance himself from her. "I did not want to scare you."
"Well obviously. Strangely, there are scarier things in this castle that make me not afraid of what you are. You know too much about me for me to end our friendship now. You are stuck with me," Amelia smiled.
"What torture."
"Hey!" She exclaimed and playfully marched over to poke him. "Being in my presence is a gift. Would you prefer to be around Fraser? You probably would have made a run for it out of the castle."
"I don’t believe your cousin would have saved me that day, princess. Besides your grandmother, there is no one I have come by in your family who shares your kind heart. You will make an excellent queen, Amelia."
"Oh," Amelia teared up. "You just called my name."
"I have done it before," Cyrus replied.
Amelia wiped her eyes before tears could fall. "But it feels so sentimental now. It’s about time. By the way, I requested that Killian help me find the person you are looking for when we get rid of the slave trade. We’ll need a proper description of her. Maybe I should call in an artist."
