Chapter 65
’I’m sorry mother,’ Amelia mentally apologized to her mother for burning her tower. ’I needed a distraction. I’ll be leaving the castle soon. I hope with many of your memories burnt and me leaving, your soul can finally move on from this dreaded place. Do me a favor and strangle my father. Though I suppose he won’t be where you are.’
Amelia heard light footsteps of someone approaching her but did not need to turn around to know who it was. "Cyrus, I thought I told you to look for Gina. You know she must be scared out of her mind. I am fine."
"Why?" Cyrus asked.
Amelia knew he was not referring to going off to look for Gina. He knew she finally said yes to Killian’s offer. "It’s not only about me. I have to do what is right for my people. The Blackwells and the north have been at each other’s throats far too long. I have a new path now, Cyrus."
Amelia had always been focused on trying to become the next Blackwell queen. Now, her path had changed to becoming a good queen for the north and uniting the two kingdoms so no one innocent would get hurt on both sides.
"I will become the best queen anyone has ever witnessed. One way or the other, I was meant to rule. I will make this world better where you can walk around the Blackwell kingdom without receiving glares. I know you want me to be cautious of Killian and I will be. After I find who you have been looking for, you will come with me to the north right?"
"Princess," Cyrus sighed. He never had any intention of returning to the north especially after Killian denoted him a traitor for siding with Amelia. Now Killian wanted to marry her. How hilarious. "You that I cannot leave you alone. I cannot let you go there with those de-" Cyrus caught himself before he revealed their secret.
"Those what?" Amelia’s curiosity about the north increased now that Cyrus was warning her about something else. She wanted to know why the priests practically barricaded themselves inside of the temple from the moment Killian arrived and why Cyrus would never step foot in the temple. "Cyrus, if there is something I must know please tell me before it blows up in my face."
"Believe me, princess. I desperately want to but I am forbidden to as of right now and I am afraid of how you will react. Before night passes, ask Killian Bune what is the North’s greatest secret that most of the world does not know. If he does not tell you the truth, I will not allow you to marry him."
