"Come, we have to tell your people the good news. They’ll be delighted to hear you have accepted the proposal but keep quiet about our children taking the throne," Killian offered his hand out for her to walk beside him.
"Have you been blind to the men inside the throne room? None of them will be happy to learn that I will become your queen. They do not want me to inherit my father’s throne or be queen elsewhere. My grandmother will be the only one jumping for joy. She has been mentioning the two of us getting married to stop this war," Amelia could picture how excited her grandmother will be.
"They fear what will be done to them when you marry a man with a strong offer to slay them. I am also tempted to make more heads roll today. There seem to be a lot of people who will annoy me in the future. This castle is in need of being cleansed," said Killian.
"Do not kill anyone else. As much as I am happy that Ricardo is gone, I don’t want to look back on the day we became engaged and think of dead bodies. When other young couples get engaged, it’s said to be a joyous day. The gift that I want is peace," Amelia said as life had been too chaotic recently. "Just for this one day."
"So tomorrow, I can cause as much chaos as I want? I will give you want. No one else will die today. I will have my men release the people they placed in the dungeon. You should warn them not to plot anything as I am always prepared. You cannot go back on your word now that you have agreed to marry me. You are mine and I will kill an entire army to take you back to the north with me. Do not underestimate that," Killian gave her a warning.
"Believe me, I won’t and when I make a promise, I always keep it. I will not go back to my words as long as you make today peaceful. And there is my request you have your men stop referring to Cyrus as a traitor-"
"Princess," Killian cut her off before she could agitate him further. "You should know it makes my blood boil when you mention that man. It infuriates me that I cannot figure out what relationship the two of you have. Is he just loyal to you or is there something more the two of you don’t want to admit?"
"We’ve only been engaged for a small moment. There is no need for you to already think I have someone I am sleeping with on the side. Cyrus and I are simply friends, you jealous king. Nothing more. I don’t see why it is a problem that I care for him. He has been one of the only people protecting me in the castle. Shouldn’t you feel grateful to him for keeping your future wife safe?" Amelia asked.
"You will one day understand why I find him to be irritating. I view you as mine and he is like a pest lingering somewhere he shouldn’t be. Whether he has feelings for you or not, you have ended up by my side. I am certain he is just as irritated with me the as I am with him. I’d bet my favorite sword that he will try changing your mind. I shall kill him if he does," Killian stated with a lack of humor in his voice. He was dead serious.
