Chapter 52
Late in the night when the castle was partially silent, Cyrus silently made his way down to the castle dungeon to have a word with the northerners the king had captured. It was odd they had been captured in the first place and Cyrus found it strange they were remaining quiet when they could easily break free. They were all demons after all. King Richard had no idea what he welcomed into his castle.
Cyrus walked in the shadows, his white hair on display and his red eyes vibrant in the darkness. He revealed his true appearance as it made him stronger. He was like a leaf in the wind floating by the Blackwell guards in the dungeon.
Cyrus sniffed the air when he stumbled across two passageways going left and right. He followed the right side where he was sure to find the northerners. The lack of Blackwell guards at this point meant they were too afraid to be anywhere near the captured men.
’They’re here,’ he thought. The loud sounds of chains shackling were heard nearby.
"Show yourself northerner. There is no need to remain in the shadows when we can all smell you," a deep voice spoke in the silent room. "I cannot remember your smell from the ones who came with the king. If you are able to walk here freely, you must be a traitor."
"I am not a traitor. In the eyes of the Blackwell people, I am a slave but I serve as a guard to their princess. It is interesting how all of you are sitting quietly in this dungeon without trying to escape. It is as if you are all waiting for something. I’ve run into Killian Bune. He will soon attack and you are all waiting for that moment to strike," said Cyrus.
"I do not know what you speak of. You should return to your new master traitor."
"I do not care if the king is on his way here to kill the Blackwell king. That man can die for all I care but I would like it if no harm will come to the princess. She is innocent in this matter and truly hopes to create peace between the two kingdoms. Seeing that you have spoken up, you must be the leader of this group. Relay what I said to your king," Cyrus stepped into view to see who he was talking to.
He found a man who looked to be in his thirties sitting by the cell door but Cyrus knew looks were deceiving when it came to demons. The man was certainly much older.
