The Throne Is Mine

Chapter 28

"If Killian is coming to take your father’s head that means the throne will not belong to you in the end. Killian will be a harder target for you to go up against. If he plans to take over our castle and become king of two kingdoms, what will you do then?" Margaret asked since there was a chance it could happen.

Killian didn’t come unto their land to kill a few men and return to his own kingdom. He was here to prove a point to the Blackwell kingdom and all the others who knew of him. He was not a mere man to be messed with and soon enough, Richard Blackwell will learn it.

"Well, that is another scenario. If that were to ever happen, I would try any means needed to keep a Blackwell on the throne. It’s likely he is coming to take the throne away from my father and have it for himself or to put someone else on it. Hopefully me but I wouldn’t want us to end up in that predicament."

"I fear we have no control over that. He is so close to our castle that he could take it any minute now," Margaret looked around the castle, dissatisfied with the number of guards stationed to protect those on the inside of the castle grounds. "Your father’s weakness will be his ego."

"He thinks no one can get through our castle walls because it has never happened but he fails to realize there were great kings who made that possible. Killian should have never been able to get into the kingdom from the border. This is all going to come crumbling down soon," Amelia felt a fluttering feeling in her stomach.

Something about this feud and the future of the Blackwell kingdom did not feel well.

"Are you sure you wish to remain outside the castle walls at a time like this? Anyone could easily point out where the king’s mother lives." Amelia disliked Margaret living outside of the castle even more now.

"I am fine dear. If I am meant to die, so be it. Whether he finds me in my home or the castle does not matter. If I am meant to die I would rather it be in my home than in this castle. That’s one of the two promises I made to myself," said Margaret.

"I wish you wouldn’t speak of death as if it is nothing, grandmother-"

"But it is nothing, child. Death is nothing for me. I have lived a long life so dying is the least of my worries. The only thing keeping me from moving on is making sure you will be fine. So hurry up and find your own happiness," Margaret patted Amelia’s hand.

"Grandmother!" Amelia whined. "How can you stand here and say such a thing? Have you never thought of how your death would mean something to the people who love you? What am I to do without you? I don’t care how long you have lived. You must stay with me and die naturally instead of taking your own life."
