Chapter 21
"You are not a man of the north," Cyrus thought about Killian’s words in the privacy of the room Amelia gave to him. His room was near the servant quarters but not too far away from Amelia’s room.
"I can’t go back to the north when I find her," he muttered thinking of where he could go when he found the person he was looking for. He didn’t belong in the Blackwell kingdom and now he did not belong in the north. Pledging his loyalty to Amelia gave up his chance to ever return home.
Cyrus sighed pulling his damaged clothes over his head to get rid of them. The journey to a village was so unexpected that he wasn’t able to return to his room to put on his armor. There wasn’t a chance in this world that any of the Blackwell guards would have given him armor to wear.
His shirt was completely torn apart in the shoulder area thanks to the wolves. With his shirt off, Cyrus stared into his mirror at the dry blood marks but no scars on his body. The bite marks from the wolves already healed but they took longer than normal because of what the wolves truly were.
"I need to avoid those two in the future," he said, rubbing his hand against his smooth skin. He felt that Killian made a promise to the wolves that they would in fact come across Cyrus to eat him. "It’s dangerous for them to keep the men they captured from the north."
Cyrus had listened to Amelia’s conversation with her father in the throne room. The Blackwell kingdom like many others had no clue what the north contained. Killian Bune was not a man to be messed with. Capturing some of Killian’s men today was only a small victory.
If Cyrus was the king, he would call back all of his men and try to enter a truce with Killian. Both sides had killed enough people from the other side where they should be tired of fighting by now. Though that would be impossible when it came to Killian. The man enjoyed killing his enemies and no doubt dreamt of killing king Richard.
Cyrus dipped a piece of cloth into a bucket of water he brought from the river outside of the castle. He didn’t have the luxury of warm water or a tub like the royalty in the castle and he wasn’t allowed to bathe with the other servants. Cyrus didn’t mind anything he faced in the castle considering the other captured people from the north who became slaves were treated much worse.
He twisted the cloth getting rid of some of the water before rubbing it against his skin where the blood was. He silently continued to clean himself until he caught sight of himself in the mirror.
"What a nuisance," he sighed, realizing his hair had changed to white and his eyes were now blood red. Cyrus ran his tongue against his fangs almost piercing it in the process.
If only the people in the Blackwell Kingdom knew the secrets hidden away in the north, they would beg Killian for mercy now.
The next day, Amelia woke up early thanks to Gina once again. Amelia went to sleep late in the morning which was becoming a habit. She found herself unable to sleep after her mother’s death. She kept telling everyone she was up reading books but that was far from the truth.
