Qin Liuxi took a liking to Teng Zhao and wanted to take him on as an apprentice, but it was not a matter of simply deciding to take him away; it required Teng Tianhan’s consent, and more importantly, Teng Zhao’s own willingness.
Teng Tianhan was persuaded, relinquishing that last bit of hope he held for his real son. Perhaps he wouldn’t be willing; after all, he was even reluctant to go to Shangjing.
But when he returned to his son’s room, he found Teng Zhao’s gaze glued to Qin Liuxi’s face, virtually ignoring his own presence.
Mr. Qi made way once again, as Qin Liuxi took a seat, while Teng Zhao handed over the Paper Cranes.
"Spell."
Qin Liuxi said with a smile, "I’ll teach you."
A pang of sourness washed over Teng Tianhan’s heart as he was pulled away by Mr. Qi.
"Dong Weng, this is the first time the young master has shown such great interest and different emotions towards a stranger," Mr. Qi said, standing in the courtyard, looking at the two children by the southern window.
Qin Liuxi was not much older, in his eyes, she too was but a child, and Teng Zhao even more so.
Now, the two were separated by a chessboard, with one speaking and the other listening.
