Chapter 315: The Challenges Ahead
Mineah let out another sigh as she lay in bed, waiting for Nikolai to join her. He was still outside doing some work. It had been a challenge for her to find the right moment to discuss the problem of having a baby, especially with the divine dagger still residing within her. Tonight, she was determined to bring up the matter with him.
Her recent meeting with Queen Mother had left her feeling uneasy. She could feel how excited the Queen Mother was about the prospect of her becoming pregnant and she didn’t want to curb her excitement in any way so Mineah could only smile and reassure her.
However, the unexpected circumstances involving the dagger inside her complicated her plans. She and Nikolai were trying their best to conceive, and she yearned for it as much as the Queen Mother did. But who would have thought that this dagger would bound itself in her body? She had only meant to hide it from Nikolai, never imagining it would bond itself to her permanently.
Despite this, Mineah simply couldn’t allow herself to think negatively. She held onto a theory that the divine dagger would unbind itself from her once it had fulfilled its purpose: to stab the heart of an immortal and end her curse. But there was only one way to confirm it which was through that magical book of the Chronicles of Fallen Angel.
As she was deep in thought, she opened her closed eyes and quickly jolted to sit on the bed. She shouldn’t sleep yet. There were important matters to discuss with Nikolai, particularly his plan to join Ezekiel to infiltrate Helion’s Castle and retrieve the magical books concerning fallen angels and dragons.
"Mine, why are you still awake?" Nikolai’s voice brought her back from her stupor.
"You’re finally back. I was waiting for you," Mineah replied.
"Oh, I’ll just change and join you shortly," Nikolai said to which she nodded. She didn’t move and watched him closely as he moved about the room.
After some time, Nikolai chuckled as he approached their bed and joined her. He had noticed her gaze and constant sighs while he changed. So, with a curious tone, he inquired, "I feel like something is bothering you. I mean, you’ve been staring and sighing continuously ever since I entered the room at the same time."
With this, Mineah swiftly snuggled into him and buried her face in his chest.
"I’m so sorry..." she started. She felt a huge lump forming in her throat; it was difficult to voice her concerns. She didn’t want to disappoint him.
