Chapter 293: The New Minister of Justice (1)
The next morning, Mineah remained in the palace because she wanted to be present in the final test regarding the selection for the new Minister of Justice. Nikolai had to oversee the test since he was the one who would choose and appoint the new Minister of Justice on the spot.
Mineah walked side by side with Nikolai as they both made their way to the Hall of Justice where a few officials were already waiting to bear witness to this final test for the two passers that tied the score at the top spot.
"Who do you think will get the position, Mine?" Nikolai casually asked as they neared their destination.
"I’d say Laura just out of bias, but it could go either way," Mineah lightly chuckled as she hugged his arm while they walked. "I trust Laura to know what she’s doing, but we can’t underestimate Teresa either."
Teresa was a wildcard that suddenly just appeared out of nowhere to take the test, after all. They didn’t expect someone from the Rossi Clan to even bother taking it since they were just humiliated. In fact, they would’ve probably just demanded that they have a member be put as a Minister of Justice if they really wanted to, but it would seem that they still had a member who wanted to do things the right way.
"Are you sure you don’t want me to just choose Laura?" Nikolai asked.
"I know you won’t do that, Lai," Mineah called him out with a cheeky smirk. "And besides, I trust Laura to know what she’s doing. And even if Teresa won, I wouldn’t mind it either way."
It was a win-win no matter what the outcome would be after this test. Should Laura win, then they’d have someone in their pocket to be the new Minister of Justice. If Teresa won, then they’d still have someone that they knew would take their job seriously without malice or bias.
"Well, we’ll see what happens then," Nikolai shrugged as he gave her a quick peck on her lips before placing his hand on the courtroom door. "Milo and Marion prepared a question for the two of them, and how they answer will be the one to decide their fate."
Nodding along, Mineah took a small breath before straightening her back. It wouldn’t do for her to look improper even if there were only a few people in the courtroom. She was the Queen, after all.
"Announcing the arrival of King Nikolai and Queen Mineah," the royal guards outside announced as they opened the doors for them.
Smiling, Mineah hugged Nikolai’s arm as the two of them entered the courtroom. There was silence as their footsteps were the only things that echoed in the courtroom.
