Chapter 227: Prophecy
At her question, Nikolai squinted, and Mineah couldn’t help but narrow her eyes at him as she waited for his reply.
"What?"
"How come you only asked me about it now?" Nikolai asked back.
Mineah couldn’t help as an awkward smile formed on her lips when she explained, "I... kind of felt bad asking you this question knowing that I was keeping things away from you back then."
"I’m surprised you didn’t react negatively to this then," Nikolai reiterated, his eyes intently looking deep into hers. "You could’ve thought that I’m simply keeping this marriage with you because of the prophecy."
"Hmm... It didn’t matter at the time," Mineah pouted. "Remember how I was dead set on making you fall for me? I was too focused on that goal for me to be swayed by Rosela’s negative thoughts."
He didn’t reply immediately. Instead, to her surprise, Nikolai suddenly kissed her lips. "I’m glad then," he smiled. "And congratulations because you succeeded in your goal with flying colors."
Mineah’s face turned red at the teasing, her cheeks blushing as she consciously looked around. She felt shy while they were out in the open like this, but Nikolai didn’t seem to care.
"Where’s the Prophecy about me then?" she quickly asked as she changed the topic, her eyes focused on the book. "It’s here, right?"
