Chapter 217: Over the Edge**
Mineah’s eyes fluttered open, a gentle smile forming, hoping Nikolai was there with her. She smiled and bit her lower lip upon seeing his handsome face staring at her.
"Stop smiling. What you did is not something to be smiled about," he scolded with his stern and serious look.
Mineah gulped and then moved to sit up. Nikolai was quick to help her. She took that opportunity to hug him tightly, "I missed you so much," she hummed as she basked in his familiar scent and smell.
His body stiffened but he didn’t move to back away and that made Mineah smile. "I am sorry," she whispered next as she buried her face in the crook of his neck.
Tears unknowingly rolled down her eyes. She really was sorry for everything. She wouldn’t keep anything from Nikolai from now on, regardless of any circumstance... No ifs no buts...
Silence reigned, and Mineah’s hug tightened as if she didn’t want to let go, afraid that if she did Nikolai would leave her and proceed to ignore her. She thought that she would be fine, but deep inside she knew she couldn’t bear being away from him for far too long, especially with him still mad and disappointed in her.
"I’m really sorry, Lai... I will never hide anything from you, I promise that I will never do that again," She didn’t know how many times she kept on repeating her words, maybe because Nikolai was not responding so it felt as if he was not hearing it.
"Promise me..." Nikolai finally spoke.
"Promise me, Mine that you’ll never put yourself in danger and at risk the way that you did yesterday in order to save others! Including me! Promise me that you will never do something like that again, please promise me..." Nikolai begged.
