Chapter 63: Quiet
It started to rain on Jiang Huai’s way back to the mountain.
He held up the bamboo umbrella Wen Wanwan had given him, and she accompanied him all the way to the foot of the mountain. When it was time to part, she tugged lightly at Jiang Huai’s sleeve. He understood her gesture, turned around, and gently embraced her.
“Tonight… it’s as if nothing happened, right?”
Wen Wanwan’s chin rested on Jiang Huai’s shoulder, her voice very soft.
Jiang Huai always wondered if this was one of Wen Wanwan’s cunning ploys. When a girl says she wants nothing, that’s usually when she’s the greediest. But he also doubted whether he was being too suspicious.
Sometimes lies and truth don’t seem that important; they become what you’re willing to believe they are.
“If Wanwan wants to remember, then remember it well, I will too,” Jiang Huai’s voice was gentle but firm.
Wen Wanwan paused.
Was this some kind of promise?
“Or maybe it’s better to forget…” Wen Wanwan’s voice grew quieter.
Jiang Huai turned his face, looking at her puzzled, “Why?”
