Chu Xianning’s expression had already become particularly cold. Just as she was about to say something, Jiang Huai spoke first. He looked at Luo Yueguan in front of him and saw the annoyance in her eyes. For some reason, he seemed to detect a hint of bluster behind her anger.
Some anger stems from fear. What was she afraid of?
“Of course, I am willing to annul the engagement,” Jiang Huai said softly.
“Aunt Luo, there’s no need for anger.”
“Then why did you ask so many questions?”
Jiang Huai hesitated for a moment but eventually shook his head.
“It’s nothing.”
That girl is so silly and clumsy, he thought. She probably doesn’t even understand what a Dao companion truly means. If we’re not to be Dao companions, then so be it. We can still be friends in the future. Jiang Huai quite liked the idea of being friends with her; she was so innocently unguarded around him, obedient to his words, and her thighs were so soft, making for a comfortable pillow.
“The engagement will be annulled by me announcing it to the world. It will be known that our Luo Qingyu no longer wishes to marry you, not that you do not wish to marry Luo Qingyu, understand?” Luo Yueguan said.
Her words were simple: she wanted everyone to know that it was Luo Qingyu who had rejected Jiang Huai. Luo Qingyu would marry someone else in the future. If Jiang Huai were to initiate the annulment, it would seem as if Luo Qingyu had been abandoned by her husband’s family, and there would inevitably be gossip.
Sitting silently to the side, Chu Xianning suddenly let out a cold laugh.
