Chapter 148: The Terrifying Demon Shocks the City
Witnessing the horrific visages of Black and White Impermanence as well as the tragic end of the Thirteenth Elder, their scalps nearly exploded, a chill running up from their feet to the crown of their heads, goosebumps involuntarily emerging.

A group of disciples from the Divine Sword Hall shouted nervously, trying to scare off Black and White Impermanence with their numbers. However, Black and White Impermanence were both superb experts at the third level of the Earth Immortal Realm. How could they possibly be frightened away by a bunch of ants?
"Seventh Master, let’s kill them all!" Black Impermanence said with a sinister smile.
"Eighth Master’s words are exactly what I was thinking, just right to refine them into Fierce Ghosts!" White Impermanence likewise laughed cruelly.
Legend had it that White Impermanence was named Xie Bi’an and Black Impermanence was named Fan Wujiu, also known as Seventh Master and Eighth Master. Since childhood, Xie and Fan were sworn brothers, as close as limbs to a body. One day, Eighth Master Fan drowned due to a sudden surge in the river, and overwhelmed by grief, Seventh Master Xie hanged himself, which is why White Impermanence is also called the hanged ghost in folklore.
Yan Wang, in recognition of their deep bond, granted them the positions of emissaries of the dead.
Some say that Xie Bi’an means if you repay the gods you shall have peace; Fan Wujiu implies that those who violate the law are beyond salvation.
