The Systems Challenge

Chapter 342: Elin’s Missing

Elmo wasn't sure how long it took hm to drag the boar back to the camp, but when he finished, he was ready to drop. He was tired, sweaty, hot, and in serious need of a bath and nap.

However, given the reality of the world he was in, he knew he wasn't likely to get either. Or at least not a bath. He might be able to squeeze in a nap if he could find a place no one would notice him, but he really didn't expect that to happen. Not when Bart, Heather, and Sonya were aware of him dragging the boar into the camp.

"What'd you get?" Bart asked, as he dropped off a load of firewood next the pile of kindling he'd acquired earlier.

"A boar," he replied simply, not caring to elaborate even though he couldn't see how that fact wasn't noticeable.

"Uh, yeah, I can see that," Bart replied hestantly.

"Why'd you get a boar?" Heather asked. "Isn't Grisha supplying us with rabbits?"

Elmo merely shrugged. "I just thought it might be nice if we could get something a little larger than rabbits. Especially since we don't know when Grisha will need to move on. Besides, I'm sure Sonya will like this more and all I was able to find were boar."

"Uh, Sonya, do you need us to clean the boar out like with the rabbits or do you think you'd like to eat it as is?" Heather asked, turning to Sonya.

While Elmo would like to be able to have at least a bite or two of meat from the boar that he'd dragged into the camp, he didn't care to say anything about it. After all, he had gotten it primarily for Sonya after all. Though, he wasn't sure how much Sonya really needed to eat as a dragon, since she'd been out for days and didn't show signs of it when she woke up. Especially with how she was able to eat as if she'd just slept in in the morning rather than not having eaten anything for nearly a week.

"I probably could eat it whole, if I wanted," Sonya mused. "But I really wouldn't care to do that if I didn't absolutely have to. I mean, I'm not a wild anymal. Then also, wouldn't you like to have part of it? I'm sure if I just have part of it, it'll be fine for me. That I don't need to eat the whole thing."

Heather didn't look convinced, but she also didn't look like she wanted to argue with Sonya. Which Elmo was happy with. Especially with Sonya indicating that the rest of them should be able to get part of the boar as well. Though, he wasn't sure which part he'd want more.
