Chapter 122: How Did You Know?
Jonas knocked on the doorframe as his contact was talking with the guy that Elmo identified as the person who had spoken to him. And threatened him. Which Jonas was willing to let go if this could get resolved peacefully with assurances that it wouldn't happen again. At all.
"Hold on," the contact said to the other man before turning to Jonas. "What do you need now?"
"I just thought I'd let you know, you don't need to look for the person I asked you about a minute ago," Jonas said pleasantly.
"Oh? Here I thought it was important to you. Why the change of heart?"
"Because the man you're talking to in here is who I had been asking you to look for," Jonas answered just as friendly, despite the undertones of hostility behind the subject he'd used when he'd discussed the subject previously.
Jonas' contact blinked. It was clear he hadn't expected this turn of events. Although, Jonas thought he should have at least been prepared for this possibility, as this man certainly wouldn't have acted without orders, and he had entered this office just as Jonas and his group were leaving it.
It shouldn't take much brain power to recognize the possibility that there could be some recognition there. Although, Jonas had to admit, his contact did seem a little out of sorts from how he usually was. Which meant he was likely distracted by one thing or another. Which was partly why he was willing to let this go if the reason behind what was done would be freely shared and assurances were made that it wouldn't happen again.
After all, Jonas hadn't come here for a fight. He just wanted this matter resolved so they could not have this happen in the future. This was purely a move to reduce future headaches than anything else at the moment.
After a minute of a surprised expression, Jonas' contact shifted to looking puzzled. "I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean," he said, clearly trying to sound like he really didn't know what was going on, but Jonas was able to detect a slight twitch of his face before it moved to looking surprised to looking puzzled.
