Chapter 61: The Boss Troll part 5
Kim felt herself get pushed away from the troll as it suddenly lunged towards Elmo. Kim suspected that the force the pushed her back had to do with whatever it was that was keeping fire away from the troll. Although, she couldn't understand why the troll suddenly went for Elmo like that.
Though, regardless of whether Elmo survived that hit, her focus was on getting to the troll. If she could only touch the troll with the sword covered in flames, then maybe it could make it stop regenerating long enough for them to really do some damage. Kim had no idea if that would work, but until whatever was keeping fire away from it was dealt with, then that was pretty much the only thing she could really hope for.
As Kim started trying to push her way towards the troll again, she noticed the troll didn't seem to be paying much attention to those inflicting damage on it. Not that the were making any headway, as while its wounds didn't heal right away, they weren't able to do that much damage, since none of it was lasting. It was clear that they could only deal so much damage before it healed it, and they definitely weren't able to get anywhere near depleting its HP.
Though, Kim couldn't help but glance at where the troll seemed to have its attention focused. It was towards the ceiling and what Kim saw was what looked like a falcon that was trying to use its talons on the ornamental piece in the center of the room on the ceiling. Kim wasn't sure how else to describe it but as an upside down triangle or pyramid or something. She assumed the falcon was Sonya, but she couldn't say why Sonya was targeting that, not that her talons seemed to be doing any real damage. Although, she had to assume that whatever the reasons, Sonya had determined that what was keeping fire away from the troll was centered there.
"Patricia!" Kim called out, getting the girl's attention. "See what you can do to help destroy that thing."
Patricia nodded, before moving away from the troll and began shooting icicles at the ornamental piece. However, the moment she started doing that, the troll seemed to focus on her. Kim couldn't help but wonder if the troll was attuned to that structure and was determined to defend it first and foremost. Which further meant to Kim that it was what they needed to destroy in order to have any kind of fire get close to the troll.
Kim wished she could do something herself, but she knew that she certainly couldn't do anything. She could shoot arrows at it, but it didn't look like it would do that much damage and she'd have to either drop her sword or put it away. She couldn't say if that would affect the flames it was imbued with or not, and she wasn't sure she wanted to take that risk.
However, whatever damage the icicles were doing to it seemed to be significant, given how freaked out the troll seemed to be. It began attacking Patricia with a ferocity that it hadn't shown any of them. The closest was when it hit Bart and Bart went flying. Like Elmo, but somehow it felt like there was more force when the Troll had hit Bart.
Suddenly the ornamental thing shattered as if it was made of glass and it had been hit with a giant sledgehammer. Pieces of it were falling and Kim no longer felt like she was wading through weeds that were wrapping themselves around her.
