Chapter 44: Backstory Intermission
Jonas first became aware of a pounding headache. That was the first indication that he was alive. It was similar to hangovers he'd had in the past, but this felt worse. It was like a symphony orchestra's percussion secion was pounding away in his head. His eyes were still closed, so he couldn't say if it was more of a migraine than a headache, but it still was rather unpleasant.
His pain didn't end there. The headache was bad enough, but it was only the tip of the iceberg for him. The next thing he became aware of as he woke up was how his entire body ached. As if he'd done a complete workout and didn't stop until he'd worn himself into the ground. Somehow wearing out every single muscle in his body.
It probably wasn't like that, but when one muscle aches, it's hard to distinguish which muscle is sore from other muscles next to it. Especially when it's the entire body aching.
The next thing he became aware of was the sounds around him. Like deep, regular breating that indicated others were sleeping nearby. The volume let him know he didn't have a migraine, just a granddaddy of headaches.
Jonas carefully opened his eyes, mostly to keep from giving himself another pain, since sometimes opening your eyes after waking up to your body in the condition his was in can make your eyes hurt. Often because you open them looking directly into a light source that you weren't aware was there in the first place.
That had often happened to him when he woke up in jail after a fight or just passing out from being drunk at a bar. However, usually those times also came with a headache, which also made his hearing and vision a little more sensitive than they usually were anyway.
As he opened his eyes slwoly, hbreathed out a sigh of relief that he wasn't looking into anything that would make his eyes hurt. However, he did see things that made him wonder, not only how long he'd been out, but also what happened while he was out.
He not only saw Elmo, Kim, Elin, and the two girls he saved, but he saw others he didn't recognize as well as Patricia and Patrcik. Whatever the answers to what happened would be, he was sure it would be interesting.
Carefully sitting himself up as the ahces slowly faded, he looked around. Everyone seemed fine, although he did notice that Kim wasn't wearing her armor, though the shirt she did wear definitely gave such a good view of cleavage that almost made the bikini armor, in Jonas' mind, seem modest.
Given what Kim's reaction to the armor becoming bikini armor when she first put it on, Jonas found himself interested in seeing what Kim's reaction to this would be. He figured it would be rather entertaining, and given what had happened before he'd blacked out, he felt he could use some entertainment. Especially if it didn't have the chance to harm him.
Jonas could see that he was the first to wake up. Not that he cared, one way or the other, but it would be nice to have someone to talk to and find out what happened while he was out. At the very least he'd be able to have something to help him pass the time more quickly.
