Chapter 381: The Twenty-Three Days Deadline
The next day, Kawakaze and Nayuki arrived early at the Senju residence. Behind them followed a large group of retainers from the Hatake Clan, creating an impressive sight.
As they stepped through the door, they saw hired domestic helpers busily cleaning under Mito's supervision. She was carefully ensuring everything was perfect, as the Senju family was hosting Nawaki's wedding, and she wanted the mansion to be spotless.
"Grandma, my sister-in-law and I have brought helpers," Kawakaze announced as he and Nayuki approached. "Just tell us what to do."
Mito greeted them with a nod. Nayuki, who had known Mito for a long time, felt at ease in her presence.
"I won't stand on ceremony, then," Mito said. "Once the house is clean, you can decorate it. You two will also need to go shopping—you've been there before, so you know what to get."
Without hesitation, she assigned them their task. Then, pulling out her wallet, she said, "It's only fair to compensate those who contribute."
"Grandma, you don't have to," Kawakaze interjected quickly. "You're embarrassing me. Nawaki isn't just your grandson; he's my brother-in-law too." His traditional upbringing left no room for argument.
"Haha, then I won't hold back," she added with a laugh. Mito smiled, clearly satisfied. "Nawaki is lucky to have a brother-in-law like you."
The Hatake Clan's wealth was well-known, and Mito didn't press the issue further. If Kawakaze's family had been struggling financially, she would never have accepted the gesture.
"We're all family," Kawakaze insisted. Turning to Nayuki, he said, "You all stay here and listen to Lady Mito's instructions. Sister-in-law, let's go."
After arranging for the helpers they had brought, Kawakaze and Nayuki headed to the market. Mito stayed behind, assigning tasks to the remaining household staff while overseeing the preparations.
