Chapter 379: Joking and Bantering
"Why didn't you let me stay with Grandma this morning?" Tsunade asked Kawakaze when they were alone in the Hokage's office that afternoon. Though she had conceded earlier, it didn't mean she wouldn't revisit the matter.
"Grandma was happy to take Ginji, but taking you..." Kawakaze started lightly. Then, with a teasing smile, he added, "Haha, are you trying to pick a fight with her?" The meaning behind his words was unmistakable.
This nonchalant remark immediately stirred Tsunade's temper.
"I think it's you who's looking for trouble," she retorted. Before Kawakaze could respond, she grabbed a nearby pen and flung it at him with the precision and force of a kunai. The sharp whistle of it slicing through the air was unmistakable.
"Trying to murder your husband?" Kawakaze quipped, his grin unwavering. Without even shifting from his relaxed posture, he effortlessly caught the pen between his fingers and began twirling it casually.
"Why don't I stab you to death instead?" Tsunade muttered, rolling her eyes. She knew full well that such an attack was meaningless against Kawakaze.
"I was just joking. Don't be so angry," Kawakaze said, standing and walking over to her. He placed his hands on her temples, playfully massaging them.
"Cut the crap. You haven't answered my question," Tsunade shot back, brushing his hands away as she fixed him with a sharp glare.
"Oops, Grandma rejected it herself," Kawakaze finally admitted. "Why do you have to stick to her like glue? Besides, Ginji's there to keep her company."
"What do you mean by 'stick to her like glue'? That's my grandmother," Tsunade snapped, glaring at him again. Despite her annoyance, most of her suspicions were fading. She trusted Kawakaze completely and doubted he would ever hide anything from her.
"Yes, yes, I used the wrong words," Kawakaze said quickly, nodding in mock surrender. He thought he had managed to smooth things over.
