Chapter 353: Rain Tiger at Will Technique
"Why does it never stop raining in this Land of Rain? It's cold and wet, and this feeling is just too uncomfortable."
As three men and one woman moved through the dense forest of the Land of Rain, one of the men couldn't stop complaining.
The four of them wore raincoats and Suna Ninja forehead protectors, making no effort to conceal their presence. Coming from the dry, arid Land of Wind to the perpetually wet Land of Rain was undeniably uncomfortable.
They were acting on orders from the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, to seek an alliance with Akatsukigakure. After the Second Shinobi World War, Suna Ninja had focused on recovering their strength and had refrained from getting involved in the Land of Rain's conflicts. However, the emergence of a unified Land of Rain was a development they could no longer afford to ignore. An ally was always preferable to another potential adversary.
The Suna leaders often lamented that their skirmishes with Hanzō of the Salamander during the war might have contributed to their current weakened state.
"Just think of it as something that happens in Amegakure," the kunoichi muttered, adjusting the brim of her hat. Her brow stayed furrowed, tense with frustration. "I never want to come back to this hellhole again."
Her three teammates shared her frustration, their expressions dark. How had they ended up stuck with this frustrating mission?
"Okay, stop complaining," the captain finally said. "I'll buy you all drinks and a soak in a hot tub when we get back."
His tone carried an undertone of resignation. He didn't want this mission any more than they did. Even if they managed to form an alliance, it would likely amount to nothing more than a verbal agreement. If trouble arose in the future, they'd probably be the ones to bear the blame. It was undeniably a thankless task.
What rotten luck, he thought grimly. Stuck with such a lousy mission.
"The captain is awesome."
