Chapter 126: Reinforcements Arrive
A few days passed, and reinforcements from Konoha began to arrive, all on the same day. The Uchiha Clan seemed to be competing with the Hyūga Clan, as both were the first teams to reach the frontlines. They were warmly received by Tsunade.
Kawakaze was slightly taken aback upon seeing the Uchiha Clan Head. He hadn't expected someone in his position to show such boldness. Which Clan Head isn't safe back in the village, staying behind closed doors? Yet here he is, the first to step onto the battlefield.
Fugaku, standing nearby, noticed Kawakaze's curious gaze.
"A place to rest has been arranged," Tsunade said. "I'll have someone show you there. You'll be notified when the battle meeting begins." She then instructed an attendant to escort the two clans to their quarters.
Before leaving, Fugaku offered Kawakaze a polite smile, setting the tone for cooperative relations between the two sides. Kawakaze reflected on this gesture, understanding the strategic implications of Fugaku personally coming to the battlefield.
"The old fox is still ruthless", Kawakaze muttered.
Tsunade, overhearing his muttered comment, turned to him, confused. "Who?"
"No one. Just wait," Kawakaze replied with a cryptic smile, his words layered with meaning. Tsunade assumed he was referring to the support troops still on their way.
"They should be here soon," she said.
Sakumo, however, had not arrived. As he wasn't leading the effort, he saw no need to appear. It wasn't until the afternoon that all the Konoha ninjas were finally assembled. Tsunade ensured everyone was settled before departing with Kawakaze to prepare for the strategy meeting.
With the arrival of the support team, it was time to discuss how to proceed. Decisions needed to be made about the next steps and who the primary targets would be. Iwagakure and Sunagakure were ready for war, but the question now was who would make the first move.
