It hanged him like a melody that wouldn’t stop playing in his mind. A part of him still stood there, beneath the glowing lights and the fading day, wishing he had stayed just a second longer.
But time kept moving.
Within a few minutes, Kael had returned to the terminal, passing the same worn cobblestones underfoot, his expression more focused now.
He headed straight into the forest where he should complete his unfinished works..
Most students wouldn’t come here until the day of the exam. It was dangerous, unknown, and filled with hidden challenges.
But Kael came here now, under the cover of night.
Not for himself.
But for her.
"I owe her," he murmured softly to himself. "This is the least I can do."
He moved with careful steps through the forest, his mind mapping the terrain using the memories from the novel he had read in his previous world.
He knew the zones. He knew the ambush spots. And most importantly—he knew where Cecelia’s group would be sent during the midterm trial.
Using that knowledge, he slipped into that specific area.
